Embryonic Diapause in Badgers: Day 17 of #sophys30badgers Badgers are pretty amazing animals! The science bit: Embryonic diapause or delayed implantation is basically an awesome method of birth control 😂 The cells float around inside the uterus and grow really slowly. They can stay floating around for 2 - 10 months. When the conditions are right e.g. the weather is good and there's plenty food around. Then later on out pops a baby badger or a few baby badgers. Whaaaahhh! Whaaahhh! So badgers can mate any time they like and decide when to give birth! Incredible! I'm no scientist, so if something is incorrect, pls let me know! 🤔 Got the info from the #badgertrustwebsite you'll like this one @pengers1402 . . . . . . . #sophynixon #sophydrawswhileclaudesnores #30badgers #30badgersin30days #lovebadgers #canthecull #badgertrust #badgersareawesome #sciencestuff #weirdscience #illustration #wildlife #badgerfacts #copicart #copicmarkers
