in making a case for bad habits

⊪ It was a Friday.
Shūhei knew it was a Friday, because by the time shift had ended that day, only he and one other remained in the office. He could have left an hour earlier, truthfully, having finished his- and Mashiro’s- paperwork long before the end of the day. But he was waiting for someone.
This particular someone, he knew, would be as punctual with his work as Shūhei was, and likely put up a fight if forced to leave before the day had actually ended. He did somehow appreciate his friend’s dedication to work, even if he knew that was sugarcoating it.
Pushing his chair out from his desk, Shūhei stood, and thanked the remaining seated officer in the room for their hard work. He brought the last of the finished paperwork that had been sitting on his desk and placed it in a box outside of his Captain’s office, and proceeded out the nearest exit from the division.
The trip from Ninth to Third had become a customary thing to Shūhei, having done it nearly once a week since Izuru had made vice captain. He didn’t know when it had stopped feeling like a long walk, but then again, Shūhei was hardly thinking about the walk today. He had spent a week nearly waist deep in paper work, and he desired nothing more than to drink it away with his blond friend.
Izuru hopefully would still be in Third’s offices, but Shūhei was prepared to look for him. Sliding open the door, he leaned against the frame and stuck his head in.
“Izuru! There is a bottle or two of sake with our names on it out there somewhere. Let’s get a move on.”
