Suzanne Collins, author of the hunger games, has an interesting website. At first I thought it was a “web-brutalist” website, but typically those have a note somewhere stating that they’re “ironically bad” or something along those lines.
There is a lot to say about this website. The biggest issue that I had with it is that there are huge gaps of white space in between her books that she has listed. In order to screenshot the last image here, I had to zoom out to 33% to get the books together in the same frame - thats how far apart they are spread. Also, none of the books are aligned the same way. Some of the images are aligned to the center of the page, some are aligned left ... it’s all just a mish-mash of images thrown on the page.
Also, none of the images of her books are clickable. She lists out all of her books she’s written, yet there is no way to click on them to find out more, or more importantly, there is no link to buy them! Seems like a major missed opportunity to me.
Personally, I don’t love the homepage/overall style of her website. It looks very early 2000s to me. Veronica Roth is a similar children’s author that I think does a great job with her website: https://veronicarothbooks.com/
