Now for the important stuff - the best bagel I’ve ever eaten:
When I used to live in New Jersey, we lived around the corner from a deli that made their bagels on site every morning. I walked there at least twice a week every day through high school to get a bagel breakfast sandwich, so I got to know the owners pretty well.
One morning, I’m going in earlier than normal to try and finish homework after getting home late after a long rehearsal for the spring musical that I was stage managing. I think I’d had like 4 hours of sleep and was rocking sweatpants and the sloppiest bun known to man. The husband took one look at me when I walked in and hollered back to the kitchen to start [cricket’s real name]’s usual with a bonus pick me up.
My usual is a plain bagel, Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. Natures most perfect food other than potatoes, honestly.
What was the bonus pick me up?
A beautifully caramelized cinnamon sugar bagel with butter that the deli was experimenting with. Basically a bagel version of a cinnamon roll.
