Japan 2013 - Booking plane tickets

In about Mar 2013, there was a crazy sale by Jetstar, a 2for1 promotion to Osaka (KIX) from Singapore.

Me and my friends had a lengthy discussion about it, but I backed out due to a variety of reasons:

1. I am well aware that my personal itinerary is boring to most people

2. They wanted to go for 9 days which was short. (Ironically, that is how long I went for)

3. Jetstar charges for meals (It IS budget, but its a 9 hour flight)

4. Jetstar does not have enough baggage limit for me 

In the end, I didn't buy the ticket. But really, the point is that: Look out for SALES. They may save you a hefty amount.

Anyway, come June, I supposedly had a last minute thing that would suck up my time from July onwards, so I was like, what the heck, let's do this.

With about 3 weeks to spare before July arrived, I had a week to plan.

And within 3 days, I booked my air plane ticket and accommodation. 

I generally use Zuji, Expedia and Skyscanner and also the individual airline websites, I find that sometimes their own websites give better rates. '~' A nightmare to check sometimes. 

Originally I wanted ANA or JAL, cause ANA has really good airplane food (hot miso soup!). And JAL had a direct to Osaka, I think.

ANA is based in NRT, so I had to go there and switch to HND, which is a waste of money. Plus ANA was expensive (SGD999-1200!!) and no longer has its 46kg bag limit. 

Oh yeah, all prices in SGD unless stated. 

JAL was quite expensive too, at about close to 800dollars. And the bag limit was like 23kg when I checked. Plus it had horrible times leftover.

So, after much comparison, I went with Malaysia Air. Totalling at about 520dollars, with a limit of 30kg. =)

It would transit in KL and go on to Osaka.  From Singapore to KL, it would be about an hour, then 7 1/2 hours to Osaka.

I chose MAS also because the timings were a lot better, I would reach Japan at 7am and when I left it would be at 11am. (Not ideal, but reasonable).

So now that I have settled airplane tickets from Singapore at least. =D
