How GTAV saved my life and also my dads.
So, on sunday i was driving with my father to a wrestling show in sacramento (about an hour drivetime from my house). Instead of taking the route i would have normally taken, my dad said he knew of a different way that might be better at saving fuel. That had me, as i was gonna be very much out of money once the show was over, so we took his way. I hadn't gone this particular path before so i was relying on my dad to give me directions. At one point he told me i was going to turn left with a right turn to soon follow it. So the time comes and i make the left. The right turn was a lot sooner than i expected, and so i actually began to pass it. My dad, realizing i was almost past it, pointed out that that was my turn. So instead of thinking, i just react to the prompting of my father and go for the turn. Now, this road had a turn lane that merged with the main road, so in between the lane and main road was a patch of gravel. I was far enough past the turn lane that my car hit the gravel and began to lose control. Thankfully, i was able to keep my wits about me and corrected, but my car corrected too much and began to swerve the other direction. So once again i corrected. my front wheel drive car caught traction and i pulled out of the situation without a scratch on myself, my dad or my car. My dad has a good sense of humor, so after all that he says "calm down, we'll get there on time." But im not nearly as quick witted as he is at this point as i was a bit shaken, so all i could say was "hey, at least i handled it pretty well." What i thought was funny was (i mean really I've been playing video games for something around 20 years now, so this question shouldn't have come up) he says "yeah, you did actually. How did you manage that?" So i tell him. "I've been playing a lot of GTA lately." "Seriously?" "Yeah dad, in grand theft auto five I've been in that situation a number of times, so i know how to correct out of it." And all he could mange to say about that was "huh." But let me tell you, video games have helped me out in my life a lot more than even i have realized. So cheers to video games for helping me not die.
