Okay so I'm embarrased to admit I haven't read this yet (life has been a lot, okay) but I am SUPER hyped to read;

The grandson of a greedy king and his dwarvish companions fall under the curse of literal dragon sickness - at least for Thorin. Bestowed by Smaug the Terrible, an enchanter whose other form is also that of a dragon, the vilest of fire drakes from the north, is seeking riches at the end of a hard trial for the prince of Erebor. Doomed to live his life as a ‘not-quite-dwarf’ and ‘not-quite-dragon’, Thorin and his companions are forgotten by the world around them. The decades roll by and the curse shows no sign of lifting, for Thorin was tasked with proving that his heart was worth saving and that he would not be corrupted by gold lust like his grandfather. All seems bleak until the arrival of one quirky little hobbit of the Shire with his mother’s stubborn streak and his father’s gentility. Bilbo Baggins, a prisoner of this draconic beast, soon begins to show Thorin just what a heart worth saving feels like.

A fic that I have in the bookmarks is In June and June and More June by Dragonslaeyr !! I saw it on a post where conkers was recommending fics and I was very intrigued but haven’t gotten around to starting it yet…… god I’m really excited tho it looks so good

Lo! 'Tis the mythical bagginshield cryptid, here with yet another question! . . . What fic are you currently reading, or have just finished, and what did you like about it?

Cryptiddddddddddddd hi!

I'm currently listening to the podfic of Something Blue (written by Lapin, read by analise010), which is one of my fav Bagginshield fics of all time. I must have read this fic 10 times minimum and now I have recently discovered the joy of listening to it too.

It's got all the good guilty pleasure tropes; fake relationship, pining, Thorin gives Bilbo a garden... I really enjoy the little political story going on, how Dain and Dis are written, and how when you reread you see so much more every time of how Thorin is totally besotted and how they've come to rely upon and really support each other personally and professionally in very real emotional and practical ways, even when it's 'fake'. Bilbo is the person Thorin seeks out for comfort and support, and Bilbo doesn't even realise just how much that means. He just does what he can to support him because he loves him.

I have feelings about this fic okay and analise010 does a great job reading it. Podficcers are heroes.

A cryptid?!? In my very own askbox?? Can I get a hoof/clawprint autograph??

Can I have 5 favs? no? fine. I gotta go with... BRAIDS. bonus if Thorin just doesn't fully explain what it means and the company are all side-eyeing Bilbo who is pretty much claimed as Throin's and doesn't know it. and BEADS (that counts as the same trope, right?!?).

THERES ONLY ONE COAT / BEDROLL ALL THE WAY.

I'm sorry but I am WEAK for them huddling together under Thorin's coat to keep warm. It's the only one bed trope but with enforced cuddling, what's not to love?? Plus it gives a glimpse at grumpy-but-secret-softie Thorin which I live and breathe for, and it's often set after the Carrock when everyone has lost their gear and so it forces emotionally constipated Thorin into a more vulnerable position and I love it
