Merrilee Profile (Rough Draft)

Merrilee Honeyglo Bon Sweetiepie Boopkins III (name subjectto change?)
Merrilee is a certified fairy godmother (or fairygodmonster) who tries to help selected individuals find their happily ever after by providing them with magical aid.
They tend to be a bit picky on who they choose to help, usually avoiding those who already have the means for success. People such as outcasts, monsters, and even dark spirits may receive a visit from this magical entity if they have their hearts set on a wish. Of course it would be quite rude to take advantage of any given kindness and Merrilee does not approve of rudeness.
Merrilee wants to believe the best in everybody. When they see someone with a lot of potential they tend to see endless possibilities and help that someone achieve them. Sometimes they can get a bit too attached and tend to interfere a bit more often than other fairies if it means their current ward will succeed. In fact, this magic monster sometimes gets downright overprotective. This could be due to the fact that merrilee often assists creatures like trolls, dragons, warlocks, and outcasts. People who do not have a favorable view in society and thus in some ways need a bit more help to grant their wish.
It should be noted though that Merri does not help just anyone with anything. Often the wish of the individual has to be benevolent in nature. For example, a troll wishing to fall in love is a wish that Merri is more than happy to assist with while an evil wizard looking to destroy a town in vengeance is not really Merri’s thing.
Some of the benefits of Merrilee’s service include: removing and/or overcoming impossible obstacles/providing food&shelter when there is none/ moral support/beating the crap out of someone who is beating the crap out of their godchild
While merrilee acts very motherly towards their current godchild, they can sometimes be a bit smothering as well.
Merits
· Nurturing: Merri treats those close to them very well, sometimes even coming off as a bit motherly in their approach. Things like, making meals, helping them with chores, asking if theres anything they could do for the individual to make them more comfortable. Sometimes this may also get a lil naggy if they’re trying to encourage someone to do something that’s good for them but overall they do mean well and are a people pleaser who want the person to be happy.
· Loyal: If you have earned Merri’s trust then you bet they will be there to help you rain or shine. Through good times and bad they will be unfaltering in their devotion to you and do everything they can to ensure your happiness.
· Optimistic (Beliefs) Merri believes that good will prevail in the end. That even though there is darkness and bad things in the world, good will come out of it. This applies to people as well. Anyone can do anything they want if they work hard and keep that wish in their heart. And merrilee is there to just give the little pushes here and there that folks need to make it past the finish line. This belief tends to attract them to individuals who may not have a lot of belief in themselves. Or individuals who have been somewhat defeated by society. (this confuses some because these folks can sometimes seem a bit cold or distant) Sometimes they don’t take on a godchild to help them reach a goal but to just let them know that there is someone out there who does care and try to let them grow to love themselves. Because they believe that most people just need a chance.
· Silly: Merri has no qualms with getting down and silly. They tend to make ridiculous noises, funny faces, and will engage in a number of actions that would be considered immature but nonetheless fun. If it creates a lighthearted atmosphere and can make their loved ones smile then you bet they’ll be a clown. Although they don’t do it for others, they do it because that’s just who they are. This makes them very spontaneous and you never know when Merri will burst out into a random musical number just because.
Faults:
· Crybaby: Merrilee tends to wear their heart on their sleeve and that sometimes makes it easy to get emotionally hurt. They tend not to care about what the world and strangers say. However, a harsh word from someone they care about can be worse than a knife to the heart for them. Even if a statement was not meant to be harmful, they can take it the wrong way sometimes. (usually an explanation will clear things up easily enough though) They don’t fight someone on it though, they tend to just internalize it. They tend to cry a bit though. Years of teasing have lead to them being able to hold it in long enough to get somewhere where they can weep in private. Sometimes though they just can’t hold It in and may start causing a mini flood with their dragon tears.
· Loquacious: Merrilee does not always have company. Sometimes they’re alone for quite a while so when they finally meet someone they may just talk their ear off. Merri will talk about pretty much anything and can talk it to death. This can get fairly annoying pretty quickly for some. However it can also be a comfort for others and Merri doesn’t mind if someone falls asleep during a conversation.
· Rage mode: In their eternal attempt to be positive and believe in the best they tend to shove all the bad and negative things deep deep down into that big ol belly of theirs. This works fairly well for the most part. That is until someone brings it all up. Mind you its not easy to make Merri snap. Generally what leads to an outburst tends to be a long series of failures/bad events, someone close breaking their trust, or someone doing something so foul and awful that Merri cannot stand by. Usually when this happens you’re no longer dealing with a happy wish granting fairy but a raging dragon who will not hesitate to take someone down then have tea afterwards.
(mind you this tends to be both physically and emotionally exhausting to merri and they require a good rest afterwards)
· Optimism(Idealism): This trait can be a double edged sword. On one hand it allows merri to believe things can be wonderful and people can be the best they can be. However this idealism sometimes gets out of hand and they can want things to be so good that its easy for the expectations to destroyed and when that happens they can be a bit…personal about it. Over time they’ve learned to temper their hopes and learn to accept that not everything is meant to be. Its still a bit of a struggle though. Also another issue is that this can prevent merri from seeing the writing on the wall, in trying to hold true to their beliefs they may be a bit unwilling to recognize their godchild is turning into a bad apple or something along those lines. Its rather depressing for them when they do have to face facts.
· Meddlesome: This kind of accompanies the idealistic nature merri has. In wanting things to go right they tend to interfere quite a bit. Whereas most fairy godmothers tend give their patron one perk then send them on their way, Merri tends to accompany ( mostly in secret) their godchild all the way to the end of their goal. If they fear the worst or are concerned their protégé may make a bad decision then they may just ‘randomly’ appear to provide a bit of guidance, ( even if its unwanted) They mean well but you know what they say about good intentions.
Clumsiness: I know what you're thinking but trust me this isn't the cutesy mary-sue crap type of clumsiness. We're dealing with a rather large eight limbed dragon here, they they trip and fall shit happens. Their ability to float sometimes makes them forget how heavy and large they are and so its quite common for them to bump into things andknock stuff over...and break stuff. Thankfully its usually a quick magic fix but its still kind of embarrassing when you're trying to make a good first impression.
Abilities:
· Magic: Similar to a genie Merrilee can make all sorts of fantastic things happen. They can transform a person into an animal or create a fantastic castle, and much more. The possibilities seem endless. This magic does have a bit of a limit though. More complex magic can take a toll and leaves Merri rather tired and unable to do more until they’re rested. Their magic is also affected by their emotional state. Generally they’re very chipper and magic is wonderful but if they just happen to be in a foul mood the magic results can be downright terrifying.
· Fire: Most dragons breathe fire and Merri is not an exception. They don’t really do this all to often since they don’t find much use for it. But it can be useful for lighting candles or getting a fire started for cooking. They have to be pretty angry to use it aggressively, and I mean livid.
· Poofing: I guess you could call this a form of teleportation but it also involves poofing out of sight. Merri tends to show up out of the blue but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been lurking. They have the ability to be unseen and untouched, sort of like a pure ‘magical’ state. They can still be heard though leading to sometimes spooky ambiguous voices coming from nowhere.
Floating: Self explanatory.
While they enjoy traveling and seeing new things they like having a comfy home they can always return to.
Likes: Homelife, domesticity, food, tea, ( delicious things in general), cups (they love unique looking cups or mugs) comfort ( blankets, warmth, pillows, stuffed animals) cute things, some creepy things (nothing crazy gory or disgusting) making others happy, sleeping, silliness, Love( any form of it, platonic, romantic, familial, etc) stories ( mythology, fairytales) strange objects/things
Dislikes: rudeness, maliciousness, insensitivity, Gross things ( I mean like, moldy slime rot type of shit…nope) , flies, cold, being unnecessarily wet ( especially when mixed with cold) betrayal of any kind( one of the ultimate no-nos) Hubris,
That covers most of the bases I think.
