Time Travel AU Pt. 3
“So, basically, Uncle Dex and Aunt Marella get married.”
If Sophie had been drinking something, she would’ve spit it out all over everything. Dex and Marella? What the heck? They’d not... she didn’t think...
“How on Earth did that happen?”
“I don’t know either. They haven’t had any kids, Uncle Dex didn’t want them to face scorn because neither of them applied for scrolls...”
“So matchmaking is still a thing?”
“Not in the way it was,” Calla told her. “It’s more like... when you want to get married or something to someone, you apply for it, and the old matchmakers evaluate it. No, the Black Swan got rid of matchmaking when they formed the alliance with the Council.”
“Oh. Wait, do you mean to say that the council finally decided who’s in the wrong here?”
“Alina got thrown out, I mean. Apparently allying with the Black Swan required a unanimous decision, and she was the only one holding them back. So, when she got kicked out of the council, the alliance was almost instantaneous.”
“Huh. So, what about Linh?”
“We can’t tell you that.”
“Because she used to like-” Belle started to say something, but was cut off by Calla’s hand covering her mouth.
“What?”
“Mom, ugh. We can’t tell you because the person you don’t end up with ends up with Aunt Linh.”
“Oh. Well, can you at least tell me if she has any kids?”
“Do animals count?”
“Well,” Sophie started. “How many animals and kids does she have?”
“Twelve.”
“What?” Again, if she’d been drinking anything, it would’ve gone everywhere. “Geez, Linh.”
“Seven pets, four children,” Belle told her.
“Still!”
As Sophie’s children continued to fill her in on the happenings of the next few decades, she realized how much of the day was getting away from her.
“Sophie?” Grady’s voice asked. “How are you guys in there? Can I come in?”
“Grandpa!” Belle squealed, rushing to open the door.
“Uh...Sophie? Care to introduce me to my grandchildren?”
“That’s Belle,” She said, pointing to Belle, and then pointed to Calla. “And this is Calla.”
“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you both,” Grady smiled. “Care to inform me of who your father is, so I can go tear him apart?”
“Dad!” Sophie exclaimed. “Don’t you dare! They haven’t even told me, and he’s my husband, Anyways, I was thinking of having everyone over, would that be okay?”
“Let me talk to Eda about it, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Why don’t you ask them now?”
“Wait, we get to see Aunt Biana and Uncle Dex and Aunt Lihn and Uncle Tam and Aunt Marella and Dad and-”
“Shhh!” Calla covered Belle’s mouth.
“Sorry,” Belle whispered. “Well, hurry up! I want to see them all already!”
“Alright,” Sophie agreed, taking apart her imparter.
After calling everyone (The Vackers, Dex, the twins, and Marella), the three girls ate a hurried breakfast and Sophie put on a pocketed tunic. Then finally, there was a knock on the door.
“Sophie!” Fitz said as soon as she opened the door. Both he and Biana swallowed her in a hug. “Wait, Sophie? Who are these people?”
“This is Belle and Calla, my daughters.”
The look on their faces was one of pure terror and shock. “What the heck, Sophie?”
“No, no. I haven’t actually had them yet. They’re from the future.”
“Really?” Biana asked, just as Dex walked up behind them. He covered Biana’s eyes, making her scream. “Dexter Dizznee!” She screamed, racing after him as they ran away. Fitz shook his head.
“So how did that happen?” Fitz asked, gesturing to them.
“Will you please stop talking about us like we’re not here?” Belle asked.
“Yeah, we get enough of that back home!”
“Hang on-” Fitz asked, looking at Sophie, then back at her daughters. “Am I your Dad?”
