             didn’t think he’d care? for some reason the words hit yuno like a brick wall, nearly knocking the air out of him. it was so honest of asta to admit that -- such an off-handed way of revealing something so key about their dynamic. he’d always been the cold one, the distant friend, the quiet introvert. he’d always had a short word to say to asta, even if it was just friendly banter. had this translated to make his friend -- his family -- believe that he truly didn’t care about him? without thinking, his hand extends and wraps slender fingers around the shorter boy’s, amber eyes meeting electric green. 

               ‘ don’t ever say that again, asta. i’ll always care about you. ’
