Daniel Garcia says Jon Moxley is his mentor in real life, believes Mox turned the ship around in AEW when they were losing perception:

“I feel like I have some mentors in my life now. I have one right now, Jon Moxley. He is somebody who has helped me so much. He is somebody who is all about self-sacrifice. Putting other people first before yourself. I just look up to him so much when it comes to that stuff. I try to emulate myself after him in the wrestling sense.

AEW, I would say like a year or 2 years ago, was in an interesting spot where I feel like it lost a lot of goodwill with the fans, and a lot of the fans didn't really feel like it was the AEW that first belonged to them. AEW got to a place where the fans felt like we weren't really an alternative anymore. We were just kind of falling into the same patterns that other wrestling companies fell into.

And Mox, in my opinion, turned the ship around, man. He turned the ship around. He really decided that he needed to take control and turn the ship around, and he did exactly that. And AEW is in a much better place right now.”
