his speciality is making birthday cakes!!
jaemin is still very much so a child at heart and so he understands very well what the kids want for their birthday cake
his cakes are bright and happy and loud - fun with bold colors and brazen designs and every bit as much a part of jaemin as the bakery is a part of him
and sure his cakes aren’t as large and ornate and extravagant as the popular wedding cake baker jungwoo, but they’re delicious and popular with children
is rarely up by the front where haechan is making the coffee and chenle is ringing people up and jisung is to take deliveries, but when he is, his smile brightens the very atmosphere of the quaint bakery that is very popular with locals and has become a tourist attraction
one of his favorite things to do for his birthday cakes is put on the finishing touches for the kids when they come to pick it up, or he’ll go with jisung for the deliveries and do it at the party
part of it is to assure that the cake appears how the parent and child want it to, but another part of him does it to flaunt his icing skills
recently has been getting many requests for the pull-apart cupcake cakes and at first he was like whaT IS WRONG WITH WHOLE CAKES? WHAT DID I DO WRONG? but eventually came to really enjoy the concept of the pull-apart cupcake cakes and the fun he can have with them - especially the fun in designing the cupcakes to make animal shapes
his favorite recent commission was the unicorn he got to make, with the cupcakes filled with candies - it was fun to make and fun to put together and the kids all loved it
also enjoys making other baked goods, but he honestly is best at making cakes and the fun and creativity and excitement of decorating birthday cakes is what makes it his favorite thing
it matches his personality nicely, but also it’s something he’s always had a passion for, even when other people said it was childish and useless because jaemin has never really been one to care what other people think, moving to his own rhythm no matter his surroundings
his cakes are a lot like sunny days: friendly and inviting and bright. vivid and perfect for making memories. bright smiles and sunflowers. his good looks a plus, but it’s his ability to understand the customers that convinces them to continue as patrons of the bakery.
