This was slightly self indulgent…Hunk needs screen time.
~~~~~~
Hunk lead his friends down the street eagerly to his shop, the four of them following suit, hot on his tail, highly anticipating that what was to come would be magnificent.
Trying out Hunks new desserts were the highlight of everyone’s week and one of the million reasons why he was just the best person the have around. His cakes and pastries had been legendary since high school and everyone else seemed to agree when he opened up his little shop the year prior.
“I wonder what it will be today?” Whispered Pidge excitedly to Shiro who had leaned down slightly as they walked at the back of the bunch to hear her. They laughed together as their ideas swam in their heads.
“Please can you tell us!” Lance pleaded to the chef as he walked right next to him, tugging on his shoulder slightly. Hunk remained silent. Shaking his head with an amused look.
“Just let me guess and tell me if I’m close.” He tried. “Here’s a hint.” Hunk said quickly. The group growing silent to hear. He leaned in to Lance as it was a secret.
“I’m not telling!” He yelled and Lance jumped back with a fright, causing Keith to almost trip over as Lance bashed into him while his eyes were closed from laughter.
He screeched as Lance caught him before he hit the sidewalk. “Lance! What the hell!” Lance almost dropped him when he burst into laughter also. Keith helped himself up, pouting as the brunette continued holding his stomach.
“Aw, come on man! It was funny.” He joked poking Keith’s cheek.
“Yeah if anything, Lance was is the one who looks stupid.” Pidge called out, making Hunk smirk.
“Yeah, but he gets scared to easy, it’s not funny any more.” He replied.
“Hey!”
“You always look stupid.” Keith mumbled with his arms crossed. “Let’s just go try Hunks cakes.”
~~~
Ten minutes later Hunk had his four friends sitting on stools around his workbench in the kitchen. He had one cupcake placed in front of each of them.
The one in front of lance was a small and plain looking muffin. Lance looked at it sceptically. This looked nothing like what hunk usually surprised them with.
He narrowed his eyes jealously at Keith who was inspecting his own cupcake, red in colour with blue cream swirled high on the top, before returning to his own.
Pidge had a cronut with a chocolate-looking sause on top. She looked at it excitedly, knowing that there would definitely be a twist somewhere.
Shiro just sat there amazed at his slice of cake that had over ten layers of different flavours in one.
“These are my new creations. I’m working on surprising the customers with the flavours.” Hunk explained happily.
“But what new flavours are they?” Asked Shiro.
“Go a head and find out. Who ever guesses right gets it named after them.”
“Ha! Who wants to eat a cake called Keith.” Lance teased.
“So you think I’ll get it right? How sweet of you.” Keith said smugly.
Lance just pulled a face at him as hunk got all of their attention again.
“Ready off you go.”
Pidge was the first one to bite into her dessert. She gleefully chewed as realisation came to her face. “This isn’t chocolate! It’s more like caramel… but salted? The inside is crunchy but not really. Umm is it a foreign candy?” She guessed hopefully.
“Ooooh, so close. It’s actually caramel popcorn crushed on the inside with sweet corn in the batter.” He grinned.
The others were amazed, Shiro enthusiastically biting into his cake next.
“It’s strawberry! And orange, bannana, is that pineapple! It’s an entire fruit salad in a slice of cake” He gasped.
“Sorry Shiro, you forgot guava, kiwi, lychee and apple.”
“How did you even do that!”
“Magician never reveals his secrets. Oh, Lance try your one, in really pleased with how it turned out!”
Lance looked over his plain muffin again. He shrugged before biting into it, trusting his friend. His confused looked turned into a happy hum of approval as he swallowed. “Oh wow. That’s strong. I can’t put my finger on the flavour but I certainly wasn’t expecting it!”
Hunk laughed. “That’s the point! It’s only coconut lime but when disguised in a plain exterior it really shocks you!” He exclaimed.
Keith needed no instructions to bite into his colourful cupcake next. He chewed for a bit before clicking his fingers. “I’ve got it.” He cheered.
“Yeah right, sure!” Lance laughed. “I stand by the fact that noooo one would by something called Keith, kogane OR mullet.”
“Fine! I saw you eying mine cake his whole time! Why don’t you try it and see if you can get it.” Keith said while picking up his muffin; holding it in the air looking at the small bite mark and turning it so that the untouched side faced Lance.
“Oka-” Lance went to reply but was cut off as Keith slammed the cake into his face.
“Hey!” He yelled wiping cream out of his eyes. Keith also got with everyone else laughed historically as Lance pulled a face. He looked around at everyone. He could feel a giggle of his own but he tried his best to suppress it. Eventually he gave in and joined the others.
He licked some of the cream off his finger, smiling at the taste.
“Oh! Ha ha. It’s just-”
“VANILLA!” Keith tried to cut in and answer first, resulting in them answering in unison.
“Ha! I get a cake named after me. Thanks hunk! It was delicious.”
“Thanks. This one was a reverse of your one Lance. It looks cool and exciting but it’s the most basic flavour.”
“Haha your cupcake is like you! Bedazzled on the outside with nothing going on inside!” Keith laughed.
“Well actually…” Hunk trailed off. “You answered together so-”
“NO!” They said again simultaneously.
“I have no choice but to call it… the Klance.” He dubbed the blue and red dessert with an evil grin.
“No Hunk, as your best friend I say it will wreck your business.
"Done and done. It will be on the shelves tomorrow.” He said finally. The two boys face palmed.
