@lazaefair i played flute for about seven years as a kid/teenager and was at one point pretty serious about music as a career before i realized my folly. XD i’ve been thinking about trying to pick it up again but it’s kind of scary, in a way. i also “played” “cello” for a year of high school because i needed a class that period. and while i mostly subsist on microwaveable food because i can’t cook, when i bake I try always to do it from scratch. oatmeal raisin cookies, triple lemon cupcakes, and ultimate coconut cream cake/cupcakes are particularly fun! there’s also a breakfast casserole i make sometimes that’s just eggs, cheese, hash browns, ham, sour cream, and herbs in a baking dish that always comes out good! here are the recipes for the above: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/11620/oatmeal-raisin-cookies-iv/ https://www.crazyforcrust.com/perfect-triple-lemon-cupcakes/ http://willowbirdbaking.com/2013/04/01/the-ultimate-moist-fluffy-ridiculous-coconut-cake/

LAY THAT TRUTH DOWN SARAH, YOU’RE THE SCONE HERO WE NEED
it is HIGH SCONE SEASON my friends, so in honor of that and because scones are the fucking easiest baked good to impress your friends with, here are two of my favorite scone recipes.
pumpkin scones (w/ berry butter, which is very good, but i like to have mine with some apple butter or thanksgiving cranberry sauce, myself)
orange chocolate scones (i usually use milk instead of dark chocolate bc there is no such thing in the world as too much sugar)
ENJOY, MY LOVES!!
y'all i cannot begin to tell you how tasty these coconut cream-filled cupcakes i just made are. recipe modified from the address below - if you're interested in the modifications, let me know! http://willowbirdbaking.com/2013/04/01/the-ultimate-moist-fluffy-ridiculous-coconut-cake/
look, i have been making these pumpkin scones for years now and they just get better every year, i just finished a batch and they are fluffy and crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. i didn't have any milk so i swapped in buttermilk THIS WAS A SOLID CALL LET ME TELL YOU. AND this is the first year i've ever tried glazing them (bc they're not sweet on their own), so i just tossed a little cinnamon into the vanilla water icing i was mixing and oh. my. god. MAKE THESE. MAKE THEM NOW. they take all of twenty minutes to a half hour to assemble and they taste better than the best scone you've ever had out of a coffeeshop case. MAKE THEM AND IMPRESS YOUR FAMILY THIS THANKSGIVING, I'M SERIOUS.
PS: for bonus family impressing, offer to make the bread/rolls this year, then go out and buy a popover tin and make ina's popovers. do exactly as she says (though for ease of making them i suggest using some kind of dipping or pouring device - like a measuring cup - to dole out the batter, which is SUPER thin, like pancake batter), ESPECIALLY the bit about not peeking. if you touch that oven door you will ruin them. but if you do as instructed, you will achieve the most ridiculous bread product known to man, this stupidly inflated monstrosity of a roll with a built-in hollow for shoving ungodly amounts of butter. your family will grovel for these, i promise, and all it took you was five ingredients and a half hour of NOT TOUCHING THAT OVEN DOOR.
i'm making cake bites!! they're gonna look like easter eggs!! the cake part is a really pretty shade of pink!!
