Where did I sleep during the first week?
During the first week in the French Carribbean, we slept in a hotel called “The Bakoua”. It is a very nice and luxurious hotel, one of the best on the island. We chose to go there because we were supposed to make 7 days quarantine due to the Covid-19 situation. So we chose a hotel with a swimming pool and an access directly to the beach. It was really amazing. We really enjoyed this week. All we had to do was: get some rest, go to swim, sunbathing... and of course eat some good food :)
The Bakoua Hotel is situated in the middle-east of the island, in the “TROIS ÎLETS”. It is very well situated, not so far from the south side and the north side. There are a lot to do in this place, I’ll talk about it in another article later.
But in this area, there is a small Creole quarter, which is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are lots of cafés, restaurants, bar and even some stores with a lot of beautiful little things as souvenirs... We took the opportunity to buy some cool stuffs and souvenirs for our relatives.
Below is the picture of the beach and the bar where we got some drinks & ate some snacks. The water was crystal clear and we saw many small fishes ! The weather was always sunny, except sometimes we had some tropical rain... but it is not the rain we have in Switzerland... it only lasts some minutes.
It is interesting to note that, during this period of Covid, some hotels are still open. Of course there are less tourists as usual, but at least it is open. Some hotels try to make some offers in order to attract the tourists. It was a pleasure for me to stay in this hotel and to spend some of my money here. It is a very sad situation for everyone so it is important to help if we can.
The staff in this hotel was very welcoming and nice with us! The restaurant of the hotel provides really good food but it is a little expensive, for us, students... However, we ate some incredible fish there and the food was good everywhere!
I truly recommend this hotel if you go to Martinique once.
