Should everyone become a vegetarian ?
Currently, health issues bring about a powerful effect on people’s lifestyle, including that of the vegetarian. Vegetarians tend to avoid the consumption of meat and poultry. They believe that meat consumption can impact the body negatively. I firmly believe that a vegetarian diet could be an option, but eating a balanced and varied food is more beneficial for the body.
Vegetarians believe that eating red meat had a greater risk associated with cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, coronary heart disease, clogged arteries, and others. It is caused by a buildup of cholesterol from excessive meat intake. In addition, the vegetarian lifestyle is also influenced by environmental factors. There is an assumption that the livestock contributes to the environmental damage in terms of deforestation and excessive water consumption. Therefore, reducing meat consumption would eliminate the potential for environment risk that is caused by the opening of new farmland.
However, the human digestive system is designed to digest a variety of derived-food from plants and animals efficiently, which is supported by the following two reasons. Firstly, since ancient times, the human instinct for survival has been done by eating plant and meat by daily hunting. Secondly, the human stomach is able to extract animal meat containing a vital source of mineral and protein that are not available from other food. Some of that mineral components are responsible for muscle and bone formation. Furthermore, abstinence from meat, they would interfere with the body’s metabolism. Finally, human requires consumption of meat in a particular proportion.
In conclusion, everyone should not change into a vegetarian diet because meat consumption is also required. Controlling a balanced diet becomes more important in the maintenance of a healthy body day to day.
