Benedict shaving his fronthead for a role seems to upset some fans. He endorses the roles he chooses completely and I wouldn’t expect anything less from the best actor of the 21st century. He could have chosen to wear a wig or a prosthetic makeup, but on set : the simplest the better (also the most efficient, natural, credible, faster). I guess he will shave his head after filming the Brexit movie to get the hair grow up again pretty. That doesn’t matter at all to me.
Because I love the actor first. Second, because the beauty of the man do not change with or without hair, blond or black, curled or straight, long or short.
Now, to those who are concerned about Benedict being bald, please remember that Hollywood has got numerous actors and actresses before who shaved their head for a role. Some actors/actresses take a lot of pounds or do a dramatic diet. It’s part of the acting job.
Not upset with Benedict shaving the beloved curls for a role. Not upset with Benedict getting bald, maybe, one day, in his real and private life.
Even though I concede it is courageous to get intentionally less attractive for a man (just see the reactions into the fandom itself), we live in a society where it is harder for a woman to show up bald. Sigourney Weaver shaved her head for Alien 3 and she remained beautiful to me. I could name many other actresses who’ve been very brave the same way. Bear with me I’ve chosen to illustrate the topic with my favourite actress.
If you love an actor only because he looks gorgeous, I suggest you try loving virtual beings because humans’ physical appearance can and will fatally change... But be aware that your appearance will change for sure as well and it might not be your decision...
