Cast Beyond the Moon | Closed RP
Nothing had come out, regardless of how long he had leaned over the bowl of the latrine. He had clenched his stomach against the flopping feeling of the ale and mead mixing, but in the end Balder raised himself up to see his reflecting in the bathroom mirror clean and dry, if a bit blurred.
He never did seem to learn from any of the times he drank with Thor.
The tavern had been built oddly, and after saying more goodbyes to those departing from the main party in the great hall, he had rushed with some urgency through the doors to find the communal bath, only to be frustrated by several locked doors and occupied stalls. A flight of stairs and an inn room later, and he had solved his issue, thankful Njord had rented the entire tavern for the evening in forethought.
Even with the nausea passing, he still considered himself grateful for the moment alone in the room. It was a large group down at the party, and the breather helped him settle more than his stomach.
He leaned a little from the bathroom doorway taking in the quiet of the room. The sounds of the band downstairs had softened--likely Bragi and Idunn were heading home with their twins, and the troupe had switched to the recordings for the night as they all went on their ways. Volstagg’s guffaw came up a little through the floorboards, but remained muffled beneath his feet. Balder was sure they were still having a good time without him--Thor taunting Sif and Fandral flitting from one conversation group to the next, Hogun dryly complaining but holding back his grudging half-smile . . .
He could take a moment, Balder thought, stepping out into the room--just a moment.
The moonlight fell in a paned patch on the floor from the broad bay window across the room, and Balder crossed it, swaying slightly over the rigid shadows. The window’s seat was inviting and his legs unsteady, so he sat upon the cushioned sill, leaning a bit against the frame.
The waves against the dock now seemed louder than the dull percussion of the recorded music and he gazed out over the water, trying to settle his vision on the familiar ships and boathouses.
