Baleful Creed - Baleful Creed | Review by Bucky

Do you like rock n roll? No? Then turn your hip beach cruiser around and peddle back to your dormitory cause you have no business hanging with the big dogs otherwise known as Baleful Creed. If you like big dogs, I mean Rock and mother fucking roll then by all means stick around, pop a brewski, knock the mud off your boots, crank up the volume and let the good riffs flow. Baleful Creed sling a mean and clean brand of hard rock that is sure to gather a rather diverse crowd. Sure, perhaps the black metal boys might turn up their noses, the hardcore doomsters may be too caught up in a sleepy drone to care, being that this isn't deathly heavy nor does it contain an abundance of lo-fi shrieks. But boy does it carve a nice line down some stoney rocky slopes.  Loaded with charismatic groove, the music blasts a stoner rock theme capable of shaking arenas. The coarsely graded vocals wail smooth as silk as the guitars romp trails of radio friendly progressive fuzz rock. 

It may just be me, but on more than one occasion I thought it was 1997 and I was rocking down a 2-lane desert highway with my high school buddy stoning out to the first Danzig album. Not that this sounds particularly like Danzig, but the singer hits some notes that have the power to set your Soul on Fire, pun intended.  Baleful Creed hasn’t recreated the wheel with their self-titled, but they have churned out an extremely waxed & honed brand of straight up rock. Stoner infused riffs are abundant, the fuzz has been kept well groomed which enhances the girth of the musical unit as a whole and the mood is kept intact with constant solo stimulation. It's got the core elements of an all-around enjoyable, catchy and fun rock album. Riffs, solos, rhythm, flow, and convincing vocals bring it home to rock any backyard BBQ or poker run. If you have any interest in anything mentioned in this review, then odds are you're going to dig Baleful Creed. If you're still unsure about whether that sweater-vest will go well with your yellow mini-cooper on your night out to da club, there's not much hope and better off going straight to the coffee shop instead and maybe you'll wake up from your delusional state and wipe the fog from your horn rimmed hipster frames. Baleful Creed rock! No ifs, ands, buts about it.
