Your friends running at you with a net and sweeping you away

Catching you in a net while you swim

The possibilities are endless. Ever since Balisk and Alba recovered their friendship he’s gotten a new one to use.

He basically uses a Yautja-sized one of these to catch her and then parades her around much to her very loud protest.

It’s great.

A story in three parts. The above is the river god Balisk hallucinated while almost drowning. He felt as though he had sunk deep underwater while this murky looming figure surrounded him. Staring at him. If felt disappointed.

Lanos and Maonlui are a pair of gods somewhat lost to time. Lanos is the large figure whose body is murky and liquid like a lake bed. It’s said he’s responsible for carving the paths of the water in the region. Maonlui are smaller pieces of Lanos that broke away to spread the water further. Maonlui represents streams and forks in the river paths.

I’m trying to sketch Alba and Balisk interacting. These two are absolute besties. Love them dearly but holy shit I can’t draw them with pen…or generally. Lol

I didn’t really explain Balisk’s near death experience all that well. So~

His elder brothers were all swimming in a river nearby. They’d left earlier in the day but knew Balisk was coming later. Of course, someone suggested pranking him. They settled on the idea of one of them pretending to be a monster and the rest of them would stand at the water’s edge in mock fear.

The moment Balisk arrived his brothers bemoaned at the supposed monster that had tried to drag several of them away and urged their brave little brother to take a closer look. Young Balisk -at the age where you’ll do a variety of stupid shit for reputation- boldly marched into the water and was promptly dragged under kicking and screaming by his eldest brother.

His brothers laughed at him as he resurfaced, mocking him as he “threatened” to get their mother. In response, they all took turns dunking him under the water. Unfortunately, one of them dunked him a little too hard in shallow water and knocked him clean out. Figuring his brother was pouting, he held him under longer.

When they finally pulled him up and realized he was unconscious they freaked. The eldest brothers stayed and tried to resuscitate while the younger siblings ran to get their parents. Balisk however, was having an otherworldly experience. He felt as though he was sinking in murky water as a giant fight with a white ceramic face loomed over him.

He felt a sharp pull on his neck and found himself awake with blurry vision and vomiting water. His brothers were panicking around him as their mother thundered near just out of view. All the brothers were harshly punished for nearly killing Balisk who was left confused and slightly traumatized.

It’s since become an old memory and he jokes about it now.

I’m trying to finesse Balisk’s color palette. God I wish I had the tech to draw digitally, I just don’t have these colors. I have the big box set of crayons, markers and faber castels and there just aren’t enough hues/shades of green to satisfy his coloring. I wonder if blick has a ocean colors box set? They have a mini set but I lost it a long time ago.

I am ass at coloring and color matching. I have to color something 100 freakin times before I settle because I cannot for the life of me just imagine colors together. I have to physically see them and how they blend.

Don’t even get me started on blending. Fucking blending. I would rather drink spoiled milk than talk about blending.
