silas would dare say he'd settled into this new life & world quite nicely by now. it'd been what, a month? two? something like that. he couldn't believe it, but life was actually fuckin' good. he missed his kids, those that were still lost - or had died, but he knew that even if they didn't jump & even if they had spent their lives missing him - like he would his, they had good lives. great lives, hopefully. being blue-blooded alphas in the royal guard was a blessing only few could even dream of. he'd taught them all he could, had done his best to prepare them for the world & tried to grant them every wish they had growing up & with orion training them .. he knew they'd be in good hands even when not home.
getting taj back had been great, but he still wondered about the others sometimes, despite knowing it would do him no good. all he could do was focus on what he had & maybe the lunar goddess would bring his children back to him one day. he could only hope & pray.
it was a calm day at work. paperwork day. hal had run off to kiss a few asses before they clocked out for the day & silas was left behind with four unfinished files - none too complicated, but still.. bureaucracy was a nightmare. everything they did had to be put on paper. fuckin' stupid, really. he didn't come here to sit at a desk & write all day.
then again, it seemed like he wouldn't have to. unsure why, but one of the guys from the reception had called for him to let him know someone was waiting for him & after the initial worry that something happened to his youngest passed, he assumed it was dante finding himself bored & coming to pester him at work.
the face that awaited him as the front desk was far from dante's & silas knew he, once again, owed mother nature a grand fuckin' apology. balis had always .. been difficult for silas. too drawn to his stepfather, the source of silas' nightmares, too similar to him despite silas' efforts to bring him back. he was a sweet child growing up & silas knew it was partially his fault for all the missed opportunities, but he'd done the best he could at the time.
when balis aided his escape, he knew that he was, after all, a good boy & that had been all he needed to know. seeing him now, he couldn't help a smile, couldn't help forgetting he was very much in public & around his colleagues & wrapped his arms around his boy. pulling away, he couldn't stop himself from ruffling a hand through the other's hair before giving a little nod. "can't believe you're here. how? what happened?"
