Tip #2 staying in shape during summer break
During the summer, most of us just want to relax and do nothing. And it's ok once not to have your mind on dance 24/7. However, you also don't want everything you worked for to fade away again during this long break. Here are some tips to keep your body and mind in shape -set yourself a week where you allow yourself to relax Besides all the effort for staying fit, you definitely need some time where you can distance yourself from dance. No working out in this week! -still strech everyday This is extremly important especially for dancers who aren't naturally flexible but have gained their flexibility through hard work. Even if it's only a week without streching, it can make you fall back so much. -cross training Try to do other sports such as swimming or running. It is a fun and different way to stay in shape and it's actually quite important: if you use your muscles only in one way it can cause a mature damage such as knee problems or overusage of your joints! -just dance! During the summer holidays there is time to set your self apart from all the technique and tricks you learn in class everyday. Since you probably will miss dancing after a few weeks, why not go to your room, put on some music and improv a bit? In addition to it being a good way to keep you from getting rusty, it is so much fun and you will discover the simplicity of movements and your passion in dance again.
