The famed Royal Ballet and Bolshoi Theatre join forces in their first coproduction with Christopher Wheeldon’s Strapless. The Royal Ballet premiered the one act ballet on February 12, 2016 while the Bolshoi Theatre will perform the ballet only in 2017. Pictured above is the piece of artwork that inspired Wheeldon to create this ballet, Portrait of Madame X by John Singer Sargent. Misty Copeland Recreates Degas Artwork 

For the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar, world-known famous American Ballet Theatre 33 year old prima ballerina Misty Copeland recreates French artist Edgar Degas’s beautiful masterpieces of ballerinas. The shoot was created in celebration of the opening of a new exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art, "Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty." 

Misty Copeland makes the photos taken by Ken Browar and Deborah Ory look absolutely effortless, but she states that the shoot was a challenge.  

She elaborates on how it was challenging to not feel as in control with your body, "It was interesting to be on a shoot and to not have the freedom to just create like I normally do with my body. Trying to re-create what Degas did was really difficult. It was amazing just to notice all of the small details but also how he still allows you to feel like there's movement. That's what I think is so beautiful and difficult about dance too. You're trying to strive for this perfection, but you still want people to get that illusion that your line never ends and that you never stop moving."
