Honest Opinion - Balron Lune (?)

I’m still unsure on how to spell his name. Balron or Balrog, Lune or Rune, to be or not to be...? I don’t know. In Italy, we call him Lune di Balrog, so... here you go. Now you know why I’m confused. 

Right off the bat, I am 100% biased towards him. His inspiration is a little bit too amazing for me to be fair.  Sorry not sorry. 

Overall score (character, not looks): too much/10

Ok, fair is fair.  His score is 10/10, because come on. He’s one of the most diligent Specters I’ve ever seen on this franchise.  Is he running around disregarding orders? No. Is he fighting left and right with no apparent reason to do so? No. Is he doing what he’s supposed to do(well, what Minos is supposed to do) instead of being a whiny Specter? Absolutely. 

This man alone, because a certain someone didn’t want to do his job (busy with matters concerning the Holy War, yeah), was left in charge of the First Prison and did an excellent work.  Judge a soul, send it to the appropriate part of the Underworld, and repeat. A job smoothly done, if I say so myself. 

Of course, the whole issue with him making even the smallest “sin” count was quickly addressed by Shun, but honestly? He was there to do that. To examine a dead person’s life, find their sins, and act accordingly. This is the Underworld we’re talking about, and even though our friend Dante is the main inspiration behind the whole thing... there’s no Purgatory or Paradise out there. It’s Inferno or nothing, unless you’re lucky enough to win a one-way travel for the Elysion.  So, can we blame him for doing his job? I say we can’t. 

Lune was one of the best written characters, not because he had a big role or anything like that, but because he stayed true to his role. A Specter replacing a Judge. Definitely not a warrior, in that situation.  And he did exactly what he was supposed to, with no distractions. He didn’t even bat an eye when Seiya and Shun, clearly two living Saints of Athena, stepped in the First Prison.  He fought in his own way, yes, but he didn’t fight while at the same time putting all his duties behind. What he did was hitting Seiya with his technique, judging him, and sending him to the Sixth Prison where he belonged.  Same thing with Shun, even though he messed up big time with that. Attack and judgment, all together. 

I don’t even blame him for falling for Kanon’s trap. At this point we all know how powerful Kanon is, and Lune (even though he’s a Celestial Star) is not a major Specter. He’s not a Judge. It makes sense that he fell for Kanon’s tricks, but he also snapped out of it very quickly, as soon as Rhadamanthys helped him notice what was happening. And this told us how powerful Lune is himself.  Not only that, he managed to find Kanon using his whip.  Sure, he wasn’t strong enough and died soon after, but he showed enough potential for me to believe he could have done better. 

In conclusion, even though I am completely biased because his inspiration his the Balrog and I love Tolkien and his works, Lune had a pretty good role in the Hades Chapter.  His screen time could have been longer, but it couldn’t have been better.
