FE3H Love Language Series: Ashen Wolves Edition

[What love language would each fe3h character dominantly express?]

Yuri: Physical Touch and Acts of Service 

It’s no secret that Yuri is…well, secretive. He’s a man of mystery that sends even the toughest of detectives for a loop. This natural habit to act with discretion filters into his own personal relationships. You see, Yuri is full of flattery. His honey tongue attacks everyone and anyone. While many think compliments are his way of expression, they’re not. Ninety percent of what comes from his mouth is empty flattery and shouldn’t be investigated beyond that. It’s a waste of time to analyze what the man says, time that should be invested into his actions. Yuri is a conservative person when action is not necessary, so if he feels comfortable enough to casually touch you?? Congrats! You’ve broken down one of his walls. He gives up time for you? Congrats! You have half of Fodlan’s underworld practically at your beck and call. You see my friends; Yuri is all about investment. He does nothing without thoroughly thinking over how it will benefit him. Therefore, him willingly doing acts of service for you, spending his limited time with you, offering physical affection, etc. are important. When Yuri loves he doesn’t pause to plot out his next move. He just does what feels right. 

Balthus: Physical Touch 

C’mon. The guy is literally called the “grappling king,” how do you think he got that name? His fighting style? Pshh. Balthus is all about physical affection. Friend, foe, lover, etc. Balthus doesn’t hold out on anyone. When Balthus cares he treats every meeting like a reunion. It’s always full of excitement and joy (with bragging in the mix). However, when Balthus loves he is tender. He doesn’t treat them as if they’re glass, heck no. Balthus lives off play-wrestling! Yet in addition to those moments he also allows them to see his more vulnerable side. Only people he loves receive tender hugs or pats on the head. Only people he loves get to hug him for warmth. Only people he adores get permission to comb the great grappling king’s hair!  

Hapi: Quality Time 

This one is obvious. What is something Hapi appreciates more than anything? Freedom. She values her time and ability to move around. Hapi’s time is important to her and she is painfully aware how easily life can turn around. Wasting it is something she never does, ever. Hapi greets every day knowing a single sigh could take lives, and that with the flick of a wrist she can easily return to a prison. So, imagine her willingly giving up her time for someone when it isn’t necessary. Imagine being her first choice when pairing off for battle, imagine her training at your side instead more efficiently by herself, imagine her asking to join you in the sauna, imagine her taking the little free time she has to spend quality time at your side. This is how Hapi behaves when she loves. Of course, she’s as sassy as always; her personality doesn’t change much in comparison to with other people. When Hapi loves she simply choses to share her valued time.

 Constance: Giving Gifts 

Constance is materialistic. Fact. She is not good with accepting vulnerability and dislikes showing signs of weakness. Stubborn? Yes. Constance views the world as her chess board and giving anyone a leg up puts her in line for check mate. People that she cares for are no exception.  If you want Constance to compliment you it will be like finding a needle in a haystack of words. She’ll sneak it in so well that it will almost always fly over your head. It’s much easier to pay attention to the gifts she gives. Constance has no shortage of presents to share, though they may not always be the most jovial. For people she’s trying to butter up Constance normally sends something plain and impersonal. Yet it’s different for people she cares for. Constance thinks that a good gift is a practical one. You may not be the most excited for it, but she looks beyond that. In other words, Constance is a provider. If she always tries to assure you have what you need then you’ve successfully gained her affections.

Yuri Birdie: 

Family is very important to Yuri. Not just his blood but also his people. In other words: you screw with them then you screw with him

One of the names in his little black book stands out over most; in fact it’s one of the first listed

His sibling. The memories he has with them are foggy but that doesn’t make them any less important 

It was an accident. They fell into a river rapid...and well, the rest was downhill from there. He was powerless to help since they were both a young age

So imagine Yuri’s surprise to see them working at a bakery near the monastery. 

He’s out one night on personal business only to hear a familiar laugh 

He doesn’t approach them, just watches 

Stalks the area a few times just to make sure. When he’s certain he still won’t approach (i’m sorry, but it’s true) 

Why disturb their already safe life? There must have been a reason for them not to return home

Although he will take great pleasure of crossing their name out of his book. 

Balthus: 

There are many things that Balthus regrets. He tries not to think of what ‘could have been’ and instead focus of what ‘is’

He literally has no family to speak of if you don’t count the people who hate him 

Who could love a schlup and a screw up?...one person 

Unlike his younger brother he had another sibling. One who actually looked up to him

One that he let down 

He can’t remember what happened. He was drunk and said things that he knows were lies. The next morning there was no sight of them. Just an empty bed.

His house didn’t do much to search, and neither did he. It was just one less person around in the potluck to be the head. Only when he left did the regret sit in. There was one person in his life that wanted the best for him and he drew them away 

Occasionally he’d ask the bartenders in different towns if they’d seen someone to match their description. He even puled a favor from Holst to search around...just another fruitless debt he has to pay 

Feels his whole world flip in a split moment when a new student enrolls into Ashen Wolves. It was them, and they did not look happy to see him 

Lady Rhea had issued them to be under surveillance as a new student. Something about their crest yadayada he stopped listening after that 

This was a second chance to do things right. He could only hope they’d let him back in 

Constance: 

Constance’s entire life has been spent trying to preserve the honor of the Nuvelle household. She needs to, both for herself and for those counting on her 

Contrary to many’s belief she does not care for the Adrestian Empire. At all.

It has taken many things from her. Her home, her dignity, and her family. In addition to killing her parents the Emperor ordered the imprisonment of her younger sibling. The memory of them being dragged away haunts her at the worst times. 

Yet it pushes her to strive onward. Things will be different now that she has joined the professor’s class. She will learn. She will conquer 

Till Remire village, where a familiar face with now silky white hair stood across from her 

“(Y/N)?...no, it cannot be” her moment of weakness nearly cost her life. This person was her sibling but now her enemy 

She convinces the professor to spare them. With the help of her peers they are detained and held within the monastery prison for questioning 

On the name of her house she would turn them over to her side. There was no telling what had happened over the years they spent apart, but she won’t lose anything else to the Empire

Hapi: 

Hapi hasn’t seen any of her family since imprisonment, and she hasn’t considered to seek them out 

She’s aware that not all her family was back at home. Some had left while she was young to explore Fodlan, one of which being her older sibling. Her village was strict in regard to interacting with outsiders and they left in the night

Not that she expected to meet them. It’s a big country 

Though she does long for the kind of companionship that a loving family provides. She sees how normal people act with their relatives and can’t help but be a bit envious. Not enough to sigh though

One day she’s out on a walk with Chatterbox when someone calls out to her

Thinking it’s an ordinary maid she asks what they need, but they don’t reply. Instead it’s someone with a similar skin tone to her’s, donning a grande mage’s robe 

Never say never. She never thought they’d meet each other again, let alone like this. A refugee student and a high-mage; now that’s a story 

She wouldn’t necessarily be buddy-buddy with them at first, but wouldn’t shy away from their company 

Doesn’t tell them about her ability at first. She wants them to remember her as she was. 

They keep in contact during academy times, and spend the five year gap together. Both become hella badass units for the war
