Re-watched Hunting Palismen again and what I noticed was that the captain seemed genuinely crestfallen that GG was dead. And Kiki seemed to think she had to act in front of her. Do you think GG is generally liked by his subordinates? I mean, I can see him, more than others of his rank, open to listen to their imput and even joke around with the soldiers. Maybe those working closely with him could look trough his facade. (The Captain is defenitely part of the Child Of The Coven au) -BAM
i think people who interact more closely with the golden guard probably respect and like him alright, and your run of the mill coven member honestly doesn't know him at all; and while we don't get to see him ordering anyone around i'll bet he's nicer than lilith or kiki. i doubt he'd be particularly close with anyone, or that he would interact that much beyond his duties. idk i just think with his closed off personality and the mask he puts up he probably talks only when he needs to and maybe slips up a little if he sees something cool. also i can definitely see belos discouraging golden guard from spending more time than necessary, especially because so few people know about who is under the mask. he's just so alone.
on the other hand: lilith and kiki, who are around his level (of power, as head witch and personal assistant respectively), basically hate him, or at least they don't think he deserves to be where he is. and in kiki's case, enough to want him dead! they probably aren't the only ones—as far as appearances go, the golden guard is a young prodigy close to belos. so at least some might begrudge him for that, though they may not be as bold as kikimora.
i think the reaction of the captain seems justifiable, the sort of reaction one might have finding out that your superior's dead (that you're loyal to and fond of). but that was only her, and we see so little of the golden guard with anyone that it's hard to make any guesses about how the coven at large thinks of him.
and at the very least i don't think the golden guard uses fear to control the people under him the way kiki does (i.e. when we see her threaten lilith). obviously kiki has to pretend to be saddened because she can't be caught trying to murder the golden guard by anyone, especially not belos, which would turn her favor and move her away from the implied goal of being the most powerful and closest to belos.
however i think the golden guard is a pretty precarious position and i doubt he's super close to anyone. respected and liked by most, feared by some, and hated by a few i can see. mostly i think he's just better than the alternatives lol
