Women in Mahabharata - Usha
T.W. assault
She is the daughter of Bana, the king of Shonitapura.
When she was a child, she had once seen Shiva and Parvati romancing [she seems to have been babysat by them often, given Bana performed tapasya to be known as Parvati's son and Kartikeya's younger brother], and she had asked Parvati when she could also have a husband like Shiva. Parvati then told her that the person who would sleep with her in her dream when she was older would be the person that she would be married to.
When Usha is indeed older, one day when she's sleeping, she is assaulted by an unknown figure in her dream, and she wakes up terrified and bleeding [maybe a metaphor for menarche?]. Then, she is consoled by her best friend, the magician-cum-painter Chitralekha, and Raama, Bana's prime minister Kushmanda's daughter.
Then, remembering Parvati's promise earlier, Usha decides to pursue this mystery man. Chitralekha, in order to help her, draws every single creature in the universe [crazy dedication, if not an exaggeration and even then, amazing friend], and Usha identifies Anirudhha, Krishna's grandson, based on that.
Once that is done, Chitralekha speaks to Narada and sneaks into Dwarka and finds out that Anirudhha had had the same dream and was wondering if the girl existed anyway. He then happily comes to Shonitapura with Chitralekha, but forgets to inform anyone in Dwarka.
Then Usha smuggles Anirudhha into her room, and they start living together but are found out by Bana's guard very soon. Anirudhha tries to fight Bana's entire army, but Bana uses his Naga-pasha to arrest Anirudhha. Bana keeps him in Usha's room but forbids her from helping him.
Luckily for him, at the same time, Krishna reaches Shonitapura and challenges Bana, Kartikeya and Shiva to a battle.
After a fierce battle, Krishna and Shiva come to a truce, and Shiva allows Krishna to cut off 998 out of Bana's 1000 arms, and takes Bana away to Kailasha to chill with the Ganas there after Bana dances for him. Shiva also blesses that he'll accept any person who dances before him as his child, just as he did Bana.
Finally, Usha and Anirudhha go to Dwarka on Kartikey's peacock-driven chariot gifted to Usha by Parvati and get married in the presence of all the devas and asuras.
