You know what? Fuck the people who say "b-b-but media can't have dark/problematic topics in it!!!!!!" Because, like, if we start saying we can't explore dark tropes in fiction, that will eventually lead to saying it's taboo irl. And yes, incest, pedophilia, etc is bad. But you know what's worse? Making it too taboo for even victims to speak out.
People should have the right to explore dark topics in fiction, so long as they don't condone it irl and properly warn/tag for it so people who are affected don't get triggered by it. "But what if they pass the warning?" Then that's their problem?? Why would you intentionally see a warning that applies to you and go "oh this must be for me!"? Like that the fuck do you think the warning is for..
In conclusion, if you think fiction should Never Ever portray problematic/bad content, please stay away from us. And no, we aren't saying every media is Okay. Like, things like whitewashing, plagiarism, etc etc shouldn't be condoned. But portraying certain things in fiction is okay, so long as you don't glamorize/romanticize it.
All we ask for this post is that people are respectful. If you want to send in an ask and ask us to elaborate, please just don't be an asshole.
