Walking through the Jungle with Jahid, a true explorer... Jahid has been a Park Ranger for 19 years, has visited the Sunderbans hundreds of times and has encounters with Tigers on many occasions that has put his life and others lives on the line (not foreigners, but locals who are living deep in villages deep in the mangrove forest). One such occasion he was called into a local fishing village that was being stalked by tigers, where most of the people were frantically climbing trees or running into the water (contrary to popular belief Tigers don’t climb trees or hunt in the water). By the time Jahid arrived 3 men had already been attacked and one Tiger was still stalking the village as he approached it - the Tiger tried to bite his hand, so he grabbed its tongue and twisted as hard as he can, and fired his gun in the air (since Tigers are endangered people aren’t allowed to kill them). One man lost his eye, one man lost his hand, and others were critically injured - but no one died. Truly a miracle. Now that I’m here searching for Tigers, and hearing this story, I’m wondering if I actually want to see one or not.
