Today's goofball concept art
...It's mostly a joke. I just needed something that would remind me at a glimpse of what the original article was about.
...It was an article about self-esteem and handling criticism of one's own work. The original article (which has been moved to FicFoundry.com and will be available there when it opens) had a piece of 2D art attached to it—credited of course—showing a young girl riding a tiger. But when I was reproducing the article at the new version of DD.com, I thought, "Well, that's not how I handle my website art any more: so let me make something different to hold the space." Took half an hour or so to set the file up, and then maybe an hour for the render.
As usual for a rough, there are numerous things going on with this that need fixing (not least the essential issue that I don't think they have tigers in the Middle Kingdoms. Nonetheless, there's Herewiss riding one.) ...Ideally, to better represent the feeling of the article, it should be Nita on there. But I needed to look around to find her some suitable tiger-riding clothes: and Dusty was appropriately-enough dressed to just stick him on there. So I did.
(sigh) So now back to getting started on packing for the upcoming UK Discworld convention. The usual challenge: will I be able to fit everything I need in my carryon, or am I going to have to check a bag? We'll soon see.
