after weeks of running the Dungeon no matter what, even if it meant running it by himself most days, to the point of being sleep deprived and perpetually exhausted, this is the message Nom got today when he tried to enter alone:

right so the dungeon has MORE than one message for each person pertaining to their lore (Owain got "I will add to your many scars," Scott got "I will send you to meet your father," Kitty got "I will remove you from your human body," etc.) and now I need a full list of every message everyone gets /hj

(no but seriously if anyone makes a list like this PLEASE tell me oh my gosh)

so this was the message Nom got in the Dungeon today...

and, uh.... he ate it. in case you were wondering. he fully knows that there'll be a price to pay, that it might try to kill him down the line. it only gave him pause that he'd have to tell Scott about it, eventually. but the ability to be a weapon for the Blue Kingdom is just too tempting.

now Nom's stronger. he's got 15 hearts. and he's not coughing anymore. but at what cost? only time will tell...

Bannerfall's Creaking King is genuinely such a great mechanic for a streaming SMP... a powerful, all-knowing evil that taunts players with their pasts, sows discord amongst the Kingdoms, corners some players with impossible decisions, and tempts others with the promise of power? it's such a perfect way to explore backstories and relationships because it forces the characters to confront those truths outright... plus Owen (who's the only confirmed Dungeon message writer I know about, but there may be more) is SO good at crafting provoking, well-worded warnings and cruel, soul-crushing barbs. it's truly PEAK

so 4c pickpocketed Sausage after the Dungeon run today and found a piece of resin. while trying to get it back, Sausage told 4c that someone else ate the resin and sold their soul to the Creaking King, which Mae identified as Nom. 4c then told Katie (as well as Apo and Cherri) about this, though he was very hesitant to tell her another one of her brother's secrets after last time. the Red Kingdom is at least partially prepared to deal with the threat of the Creaking King... but if Sausage becomes the final monarch, then they're pretty much destined for doom...
