Himanshu, My son is addicted to TV, internet (though we closely mointor him). Though intelligent, he doesnt want to sit for studies. His waist line is increasing and tummy already protruding. His height is also lesser compared to other children in his class. Problem is with finding time for his play time as I have to take him out to the park and sometimes I am late from office. He is now addicted to sedentary lifestyle and doesnt show any interest to go out. Any suggestion for good reads for him
The addiction needs to be broken as it will have far reaching health damaging effects. Apart from waist line, the blue light emitted from LED panels of mobiles and television causes irreparable damage to the eyes.
Give him small tasks. Ask him to fold his blanket upon waking up and make his own bed before going for sleep. Ask him to pick his utensils after a meal and rinse them before placing them in kitchen sink. On weekends, make him arrange his cloth and book cupboard. Ask him to polish his shoes. Ask him to bring ingredients from refrigerator when you are cooking something. Ask him to pick coriander leaves and shell peas whenever you bring them from vegetable market. You can figure out more small tasks which can keep his limbs moving. The goal is to make him independent. You have to break his comfort zone.
Cycling is very important for him. A guardian in your absence must take him out for cycling. Enroll him in any dance or martial art class near to your accommodation. This will increase his social interaction with other kids.
For his lack of growth in height and growing waistline you can give him Biochemic Silicea 6x. 5 pellets twice a day. Silicea will ensure nutritional absorption thereby improving his growth. It will also enhance his confidence and remove mental lethargy. Silicea is basically sand and it is important for growth of children. People used to give Banslochan or Tabasheer to their children till this modern age caught up in 1990s. Banslochan or Tabasheer is Silica obtained from stem of Bamboo tree. It is also called as Bamboo Silica. You can also give it in this form. It is available with Ayurvedic or Unani pharmacies.
