(Really sorry if this ask has been repeated, just wanted to resend cuz I wasn't sure if my ask really sent the first time)
So... I have a question! I've read ur fic, "The Therapist", (lemme say ur fic is really good, I love it, cheffs kiss). This might be a dumb question but I'm curious...
I saw in some of your posts about "The Therapist" and you refer to the reader as Birch, I kinda jus wanted to ask if that's what you use to refer to the reader specifically the reader from the "The Theraprist", or is Birch actually your oc?
Yea that's all honestly, just wanted to ask cuz I was curious, have a nice day! :]]
I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE LOL
Basically, I can't write "Y/N" reader insert. I just don't enjoy doing that, personally, and I don't really like reading those types either (exceptions to the rule to apply though!) - I just don't enjoy imagining myself as ME, bapple, in the story. I find it embarrassing - I prefer to imagine myself in the ROLE of another character, like a fantasy or a D&D game - oh, hey, I'm actually this much cooler character! I PERSONALLY find that easier for immersion, for my little awkward autistic brain. I know others can relate.
That said, while Birch is an OC, I didn't intend that to begin with, and I did try to write the reader insert with enough ambiguity that people can interpret however they want. You absolutely CAN imagine yourself, just legit YOU 🫵 in the story. Lots of people have different interpretations of the character, which I welcome!! My “canon” version of Birch is just ONE way to read it - kind of a “game default” for those who don’t want to imagine themselves or come up with their own version.
I really hope that makes sense 😩 I know “reader is an OC” fics are kind of niche and not always what people want, but I just CANNOT for the life of me write standard reader insert. I’M SORRY. But I want people to enjoy it in whatever way works for them!!!
