Barely Free
Alina was free. In the physical sense. Now that she was released form the asylum, she was able to wander. Still, her soul felt trapped. In a town where the people who destroyed her life govern the people and where she still had no family or friends, she was stuck.
A week had passed since they had been set free, and she was living in the woods outside of town. It reminded her so much of her life on the streets back home. That afternoon, she was wandering the woods in hopes of finding something to eat. This was practically impossible since most plants did not produce fruit. Her stomach growled so loud that it practically echoed throughout the forest. Any attempts at food over the last few days were unsuccessful.
