Medics and healers always have a special place in my heart (and on my poor weakened bookshelves 😅), especially in stories where there's a lot of people killing each other so here's a little post about the amazing people who provide care and relief for the body and the soul.
Our most familiar medics Eugene Roe and Ralph Spina but also medic Paul Jones (who might be a fictional character, I couldn't find anything researching him):
Medic Al Mampre who was wounded when trying to tend to Lt Brewer:
The civilian nurses Renée Lemaire and "Anna"(Augusta Chiwy).
Army surgeons like Barney Ryan:
Let's not forget the anonymous medics working as stretcher-bearer or aid-station personnel:
And religious representatives who also often performed a medic's task (and wear their armband) like Father Maloney:
(It's not mentionned in the serie but medical personnel also worked at the Grave Registration services, a gruesome job and more dangerous than one can imagine.)
