So, Monday I'll be off to visit the UK, on a trip planned for years, to hang out with my bestie SpiteGryph.
Meaning I need babysitter for my sweet boys. Luckily a good friend was happy to step in, as I've watched her cat for her so many times in the past. Had her visiting today, so she could be introduced to my boys and instructed on the routines they are used to.
Things going well, taking the boys out for roam, so they could get used to her presence. Acting rather cautious yet still curious, she had a chance of petting sweet Sir - always been the most friendly.
Baron tho.. was having none of this Stranger Danger going on!
Seeking comfort with me, nervous and shy as always.
What neither of us were expecting - was him, after a while of sitting on my shoulder, suddenly taking a great leap. Right into the cage, that luckily was left wide open! Then sped up to the penthouse floor, to get as far away from his future babysitter, as physically possible!
Was quite impressed. We both know rats are quite great when it comes to jumps and leaps, I just never encouraged it with my boys. They never needed it, climbing was enough for them. So it was VERY unexpected.
All we could do was respect his bubble and need to hide. Hopefully as she gets to provide their food and treats, they'll all learn to relax more around her.
I have full confidence in her and my boys. I just very rarely got visitors over and they haven't met many while out roaming. They are easily more calm and forward towards strangers, when through the bars of their cage.
