Pretending I have a boyfriend bc
You playing Breath of the Wild yet? Thoughts?
I’m obsessed with it! I’ve been playing non-stop. It has some negatives; I don’t think it’s as perfect as everyone throwing 10′s at it think it is, but it’s mostly magical. Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way: 1.) The shrines are cool, but not a replacement for real dungeons, particularly because most of the puzzles in the shrines are physics based rather than having linear solutions. Now, this is cool because you can get creative with them, but sometimes it feels like you can outright cheat some of the puzzles by doing something that was probably not intended.2.) The actual four dungeons. I’ve only done one (Vah Ruta) and while the dungeon itself was pretty clever and neat, the boss was horribly underwhelming. It wasn’t the usual, charming, fun bosses of old where you have to figure out their specific quirks and beat them that way. I know it made bosses very specific in previous Zelda games, but it also made them puzzles. This first real boss I encountered was kind of just a mediocre typical enemy fight with very little imagination. Rather disappointing way to end a really fun dungeon. I’m hoping the rest aren’t so bland, but I’m not holding my breath oF WILD! EH?! EH?!
3.) The framerate can be atrocious. Which is problematic because when it drops during important fights it can turn into frustration. Like, it generally stays decent, but those 20FPS hardlocks are unacceptable, particularly when you’re out there trying to fight large enemies or the same boss I mentioned and maneuvering around becomes a chore because the framerate is chugging. Now the positives:1.) The world is breathtaking. I love open world games because I like playing games where worlds don’t feel restricted and feel like an adventure. Lately, though, developers have taken to creating massive game worlds and just filling them with padding and nonsense to do, covering every inch of the map with boring fetch quests and stupid shit. Breath of the Wild hearkens back to the good old days of open world, with stuff like Shenmue and Morrowind. It’s not that those games didn’t have side-quests and so on, it’s that they didn’t tell you what to do, you just explored the world and found cool things and came across quests organically. I think Breath of the Wild nails this, giving you things to do organically by giving you an interesting and utterly gorgeous world map that calls to you. The lack of clutter gives the world breathing room and it really creates one of the best atmospheres in any game I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. You go places because, hey, that structure looks interesting! Or, because, hey, there’s a glowing light on top of that mountain! You have this world that is fun to explore, whether you’re fighting enemies for treasure or simply galloping through a grassy feel on your horse, it never gets old or tedious. That is a monumental achievement in 2017.2.) The game bends a lot of genre staples and it’s really quite cool. You wouldn’t think little things like slipping on wet surfaces while its raining or getting hit by lightning because you wore metal would be a big deal, but it really makes the world feel alive. It feels, both, reactionary to you and independent of you in all the right ways.3.) The rewards also help. The removal of RPG metrics helps immensely here; you’re not exploring for levels and so on, you’re mostly doing it because, hey, the journey is cool on its own!4.) Graphically, the game isn’t too impressive (although what the engine is doing IS), but artistically, it’s one of the most gorgeous games ever. I’m very glad Nintendo has officially just given up on ugly hyper realism for TLoZ. TP and TP HD have proven that hyper realism doesn’t survive well, particularly since Nintendo has made it standard that their home consoles will continue to be somewhere below the standard of modern console hardware. 5.) Great story so far. Nice mystery and it isn’t forced on you. It’s like the best mix, because it has that brilliant cinematic quality that Nintendo introduced with Skyward Sword, but also lets you discover everything at your own pace.6.) Lovable characters. They’re just everywhere. From simple merchants to key story characters, everyone is very interesting.Overall, probably my favorite thing this year, barely edging out Nioh, but I adore Nioh so much, so that should tell you how impressed and in love with Breath of the Wild I am. :)
Assuming you're v versed in Zelda...what are your favorite dungeons in the series?
The Spirit Temple in Ocarina and the Forsaken Fortress & Earth Temple in Wind Waker and the Time and Forest Temples in Twighlight Princess stand out.
What is your favorite game on each console you own (of did own)?

Let’s see...Xbox One: Sunset OverdrivePS4: NiohWii U: Bayonetta 23DS: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between WorldsXbox 360: Halo 4PS3: The Last of UsWii: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward SwordXbox: Tie! Panzer Dragoon Orta or Ninja Gaiden Black.PS2: Persona 4Gamecube: Tie! The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker or Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. What are your LEAST favorite video games out there?
This is hard, but there’s a few that I’ve absolutely hated. Heavy Rain comes to mind immediately; pure tripe. Really, really hated God of War 3. Uh...I struggled to enjoy FF XII, but I’m okay with it now. Halo 2 gets under my skin, because I’m a huge Halo fan every Halo fan adores it, but I think it’s the weakest in the series - an unfinished, poorly programmed mess from start to finish. That’s off the top of my head.
