I just cannot believe I wrote a story in which Connor, Leon, and Matthew all fail to win the Cup and by posting it, I send them all the SCF irl, thus ensuring it cannot be correct.

"He wants this to be the real deal, this franchise, this team, this trip around the sun. He’s tired of living his blessed, privileged life of almosts."

grammarly is incorrect, to me your writing style is perfect and so was barons

You should have seen the yellow. Grammarly was big pissed. Apparently, it does not like sentences with six verb phrases stacked on top of each other all the time? Weird.

God as my witness, I wrote it before Joe Pavelski’s season ended, but it was a little bit of a love letter to him in the editing.

barons was a challenge for me personally to see if I could write from different perspectives and resist the urge to overlap them unreasonably. Could I let the story happen behind, around, in-between the perspectives without over sharing? Could I resist tying up loose threads that didn’t match the chosen POV character?

So while there are many, many imperfections, I am quite proud of sticking to the goal!

DISASTER TREVOR OMG (I’m so excited to see where the rest of his story goes in this fic but I would also 100% read a sequel of Trevor Zegras trying - and probably failing - to get his shit together)

I just love how many threads of not having it together he has at once. You can see through his perspective and be like, dude, you are Not Thriving.

For those of you who follow me here to watch me eat mayo from the jar, just know that my Barons fic may be Leon/Matthew, but Trevor’s chapter I am about to post may be the most important one to my heart. That’s my train wreck, baby. 🫶

Also, my challenge for myself this fic has been to let things go unwritten. There are three main characters. I can’t play by play anybody’s full life, and maybe the gaps can be intentional story enchancers.
