been watching death note lately and it got me thinking about death mark (mostly because I keep mistaking DM for DN when i'm typing it out..) but like i wonder what it would be like if yashiki were on the kira case.
(so sorry if anything here sucks or is poorly written. i'm not a writer, just a deranged death mark fan that will find any connections between it any of my current interests. [i've done it with sonic] + i'm pretty sure i'm the only one who would care about such a crossover lol. anyways back to the main program)
like imagine if mashita hears about the case and its details cuz he still has connections to the jp police force even as a PI and goes to tell yashiki abt it.
"hey old man," greets mashita as he enters yashiki's office, "i've got a case you might be interested to hear about."
Deciding to ignore the given nickname, yashiki asks, "what is it?"
"considering the fact that i know you don't leave this place, you more than likely haven't heard about the recent killings."
"hey, i went out with moe the other day for her newest article," yashiki tries to defend.
mashita rolls his eyes, "besides spirit hunting."
*mashita then goes on to give the details of the current unexplainable murders*
yashiki takes in everything he's heard. it feels too familiar to mary. what if she's come back, but that couldn't be. yashiki's made sure she's sealed away for good. could there possibly be another malevolent spirit at play here? (little do you know yashiki, little do you know)
"i can here your gears turning from here." yashiki looks up, snapped out of his thoughts, as he sees mashita light a cigarette.
"at least use the ash tray i got," yashiki pushes the tray closer to mashita, which he entirely disregards, "but the reason you brought this case to me is because you think something spiritual is going on."
"pretty much," mashita meanders around the room, hopefully not spilling ash everywhere in his wake, "however, i'm not sure how much more details i can give you. it seems that the police are getting really paranoid about this case and my connections aren't enough to keep you up to date."
*next thing you know yashiki is finding his way into another roleplay as a supposed detective (or at least a normal one). probably with some help from mashita, he gets in contact with L and is able to recruit himself into the kira task force*
i'd like to think that things would probably speed up in the case, especially if yashiki outright says that there's a spirit at play here. of course everyone (besides l and light) are pretty skeptical about that. but ik that light would freaking flip. he'd be thinking up so many plans to kill yashiki.
"how does he know?? wait i can't reveal that ik something he doesn't. they'll all probably think he's insane. yeah i can work with this."
l's just like, "well how would you go about that line of thinking?"
"let's just say i've first hand experience with spiritual encounters. i'm not certain kira is truly the doings of benevolent spirits, but something tells me something otherworldly, not human, is at play here."
something funny that ik would happen is light trying to write down yashiki's name in the notebook.
in his deranged mindset he'd be like, "hahasfahd yessss, i've done it again, i've gotten rid of another obstacle in my pursuit of a new world!!!"
then the next day he see yashiki back at headquaters and is like "w-what? uhh good day to you yashiki :)"
"oh, hi yagami." as yashiki continues to add heaping spoonfuls of sugar into his coffee cup. (i love how similar l and yashiki's mannerisms are >o<)
another thing is that since yashiki has such a strong spiritual connection and sixth sense, i feel that his little visions that he has in the games will happen and he'll see a flash of ryuk. since he's dealt with "ugly" beings before, he hides his shock, but this definitely proves that a spirit has something to do with it (but of course not in the way he thinks)
so now not only does light need to deal with one rich, shaggy looking, lethal sugar dousing coffee drinker detective with unconventional methods on his tail, he has to deal with two. both of which he doesn't even know the real names of. oh poor light is going to get an aneurysm.
his one saving grace is that yashiki probably won't suspect him as hard as l does solely due to the fact that yashiki always tries to see the good in everyone around him, even violent killers.
i do wonder if yashiki would survive in this universe, cuz while it'd probably be hard for anyone to get his name as he never refers to himself with his birth name. he also does go head on with any danger, and if he meets with someone with shinigami eyes, well good luck to him. but he is a quick thinker, and is always able to escape last minute. plus, mashita would probably save his ass like he always does.
