Since you answered the question about how astrid would feel about not having kids, how do you think hiccup would react?

The question about Astrid being barren and how she would handle it?  Hiccup would, of course, handle it much better than she--and it's not because the "problem" wasn't him, it's because, as I've stated before, I don't think he's really yearning to be a father.  The same way he's not yearning to be a chief.  Yeah, he knows it's something that's going to happen but it's not a real personal goal for him.  He's happy with just Astrid.

Hiccup also doesn't take slights to tradition and blows to pride as painful as Astrid.  And he knows this about her, so he worries for her.  The lack of children--his own or not--doesn't bother him.  Astrid handling her inability to conceive does.

Of course, Hiccup's chief and a viking so he has to have kids somewhere. They'd adopt most likely.  Less likely have a surrogate.  That doesn't matter to  him half as much as making sure Astrid's okay.

How do you think astrid would feel about not being able to have kids?

Inadequate and angry.  Hiccup wouldn't hold it against her but Astrid has this thing about expectations and tradition and what makes a Viking a viking and what makes a woman a woman and all that crap, so she'd definitely not be cool with that reality.  She'd be hard on herself.  It might cause strain in their relationship from her end.

I think, as she came to terms with it, that wound would be ripped open again when Hiccup got the second wife pregnant--because then she'd know it was her.

So yeah, something she would struggle with internally.  She might even double up on other activities--make herself the best warrior, best anything, because she puts this sick idea in her mind that she needs to "make up for it".

It'd be an interesting character arc for her.  Hiccup starts off feeling inadequate and confused and not "knowing himself", but finds his place, value and footing in the end. The opposite happens for Astrid.

What would happen if astrid was not able to have kids, like if she was infertile. I mean hiccup is going to be chief and he needs to have kids. So would he still marry astrid even if she couldn't have kids?

Yes, Hiccup would marry Astrid (because he’d likely find out she couldn’t have kids AFTER they were married). He wouldn’t get rid of her afterwards—he actually likes her.  Instead, Hiccup would take a second wife or concubine to bear the children.  Hell, it might even give Ruffnut an opportunity to re-explore her former interest in him.  (Fun fic! Fun fic!)

I don’t think it’d be hard for Hiccup to find someone for that position.  I mean, he’s the chief’s son/future chief.  It’s basically only going up for Berkian ladies as far as we know. Astrid would have to deal.  She'd know she'd have to deal.

Or he would get Camicazi pregnant again and this time she’d allow him to claim the as his legitimate heir.  That would work too.
