I LOVE YOU BARRIGUINHA MOLE I LOVE YOU
Escaping a bit from the question about the meaning of Cu in Portuguese... As a brazilian I would like to see something of our mythology in SMT, on the other hand, I'm afraid of how them might do this. We have a lot of female figures that don't need to be sexualized. Or worse... that our Mara becomes a penis.
Last year I watched the show Invisible City on Netflix (review: watchable) which introduced me to a fair number of Brazilian figures like Curupira and Iara, a sad mermaid... personally, I think one sad mermaid is more than enough for SMT.
But I assume you also mean the likes of Caipora and Kurupi! I can see either of these not being adapted into SMT with any particular deftness or dignity. Kurupi but he's wrapped in about 5 sausage ropes so you can't tell which is the "real" one.
Though since I've always been a strong proponent for existing mascots in SMT, I would go to bat for one of Brazil's greatest creations:
And appropriately seasonal greetings from Barriguinha Mole's proper counterpart. A real syzygy.
go, white boy, go!
