While hospitals need as many plasma donors as they can find, blood type DOES matter, as plasma donation is the reverse of blood donation. While people w/blood type O negative are considered the universal blood donor (their blood can be given to anybody regardless of the recipient's blood type), those with an AB blood type are the universal plasma donor. Plasma compatibility The Rule: Patients should only receive plasma that does not contain an antibody which could attack the antigens present on their own red cells. Group A (blood type) recipients can’t receive group O or group B plasma as the anti-A will attack their red cells. Group B (blood type) recipients can’t receive group O or group A plasma as the anti-B will attack their red cells. Group AB (blood type) recipients can only receive group AB plasma. Group O recipients do not have either A or B antigen, so can safely receive plasma of any blood group type. Contact your local blood bank for specific information. The American Association of Blood Banks & America's Blood Centers both offer tools to find blood donation centers closest to you. Dysphoria

Secondo me, as the Italians say, it seems to me that what we’re seeing across the UK, Europe and the US is the great reactionary resurgence. The reaction is partly of the miserable bastards who deep down have always resented the challenge to patriarchy, disliked all the great change on behalf of women since the sixties. Partly, its fundamentally racist, anti-immigration, even of those who are immigrants or children of immigrants themselves. And partly it’s driven by small-minded, small business people who are jealous of those with jobs in bigger, especially public sector, organisations with more security. And partly it’s driven by irrational fear, of the other, of being absorbed into something bigger, of losing identity. Here’s Shedman's Brexit poem, Dysphoria. You’ll find it in Barry Smith’s latest Poetry & All That Jazz and many thanks to Barry for the huge amount of work he’s been putting into the South Downs Poetry Festival and other activities to support poets all across the the South of England.

In the shed of his remaining days, mulling history both personal and public, stratified in splintered years, like the larch lap slats along the wall, he realises how the residue of prejudice tanks his psyche’s depth, caustic tar that oozes up to foul each thought with racist, sexist filth, cultural resentment. He bathes in secret in this wash of hate, believes   it better to let such feelings rise. No. Not to affect how he behaves, but be recognised for what they are. Monstrosities waiting in the dark.
