I think the Wingmaidens are very underutilized in the Httyd fandom, like they could be so many things! A tribe of only women with a divine mission to take care of the Razorwhip population specifically with cool armor and bonded through some higher power to baby Razorwhips that can sense who the right person for them is and that have wings strong enough to carry a full-grown man?

They could be a safe haven, they could be a cult, they have a canonical connection to Valka, an accidental connection to Heather, there's an interesting aspect between them and the Dragon Riders as they're two groups with kind of the same goal, except the Dragon Riders fight for a wider range of dragons. Trans!Hiccup is a thing that I've been seeing (and exploring) a lot of as of late, what would the Wingmaidens view of him be? How do the Razorwhips know when their Wingmaiden wants to take flight and where? They can't even see and there is no obvious communication going on in the show itself, other than that whistling thing they do to call them.

So many possibilities!

I feel like Atali definitely should not have allowed the dragon riders (specifically Hiccup, Tuffnut, snotlout, or fishlegs) onto their island. I feel like her and Mala went against THEIR OWN cultural beliefs to accommodate for them. I really hated it, so I’m headcannoning that Atali hated it too, but she’s too nice. 

Doesn’t like sweets, not obsessed with them. I feel like she prefers bitter or spicy things.

Def the only person on her island with any common sense. Let’s all turn to Minden. 

Atali has at least won one battle against Viggo. She’s just that girl. 

I feel like she’d write in her free time, like a hobby. About anything and everything. 

Really good at fighting with a sword, but mainly uses a lance anyway. Gotta practice with multiple fighting styles y’know? 

Such an amazing advice giver, and it could be about the most random stuff too. She’d be so nice about it too if you got upset asking her for advice !! 

Atali is obviously super nice, but I feel like she can get really mean whenever she’s pissed. And won’t apologize for it, at least in the moment. 

Whenever I see her on screen with the razorwhips, I definitely believe wholeheartedly that she thought of them as her babies. All of them still live on the island, and she still takes care of them. 

Wonderful fashion sense, just doesn’t wear very detailed outfits? If that makes sense.
