Barytes, other fangems of mine! They're vaguely inspired by Wheatley from Portal 2 and share similar pretentious attitude.
(And a little bit of a fanservice for myself because whoah.... alien ladies....😳)
Vanadinite & Baryte | ACF Mine, Mibladen, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
A completely covered high quality Barite crystal specimen with super luster. We were fortunate to have obtained this one from the well known Mindat. The piece stands perfectly. Condition is damage free across the face. Crystals are all glassy, clear and well formed. Mined from the San Diego Mine, Santa Bárbara, Santa Barbara Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico. From the sought after Volcano Vein. https://www.goldenhourminerals.com

Barite prints here
So it occurred to me that I never posted the other gem species i decided to make, so i shall post it now.
I made my own take on a gem I never thought i actually love, but I fell in love with these gems IRL, so I decided to make my take on Barytes/Barites because I loved a gem I designed and went “I need more of this guy”
I’m still expanding on this topic, but figured i’d share what I have so far. All info can be found here as well as this post, so feel free to ask about it (I’m still working on the fusions list, so bear with me…)
(Free to use bases can be found on the toyhouse page!)
Their rank and jobs
- Created by White Diamond to control over her court when she was away
- Rank at the same level as Emeralds and Garnets
- They can have their own courts and fleets, but do get overruled by a Diamond
- Predominantly Male (it is very rare to find a female Baryte, but they do exist)
- 95% of the Baryte population is male. The 5% that is female are very hard to find considering their job is slightly different (Male Barytes lead courts similar to a Diamond would, and can lead armies like an Emerald or Garnet; Female Barytes are still leaders, but take care of more delicate work such as managing courts and jobs that require more logic skills rather than fighting skills (They can still be valiant fighters however))
Their body and skills
- Barytes have a few distinguishing features that they are well known for
- Their muscles: Barytes are a strong gem species that is known well for their valiant fighting skills and their amazing strength. This goes for males and females. (The only differences in body type when it comes to females is their bust and hips: Females have a more voluminous bust and their hips are wider than their male versions)
- Their eye: They are limited to only having one eye, but that eye doubles up as a light beam that they use for attack, similar to White Diamond‘s capabilities. Their singular eye always comes with a single brow above (They are very expressive) (Sometimes hair can partially cover their eye, but the eye is always visible; Exception here is if they wear sunglasses or a visor)
- Their power: Barytes are manipulators of light and, again, similar to White Diamond, uses light and light beams for attack and defense
- Their height: A standard and skinny Baryte both stand around 8 feet tall, whereas their “defective” or “overcooked” versions are around 5 feet tall
- Their jewelry: They always have earrings to accent themselves. Earrings are a must, but they can also have necklaces, bracelets, and other piercings
- Their heels: Barytes know how tall they are, and they like being a stand above the rest. For this reason, they are almost always in heels. It is rare for them not to be in these
- Their jackets: Barytes aren’t just a gem of power, but a gem of fashion. They like to be well decorated and a jacket is a must for them. It is not always worn, but they always have one for their jobs as commanders and leaders. Can be anything from a tuxedo to a militia coat to a bomber jacket or even just a cardigan
- The cracks: A Baryte has valiant fighting skills due to their gems being so fragile. it is their one weakness. When a Baryte gets injured, their body and ”skin” tends to crack very easily.
- Their gems are so fragile that a small chip or crack can cause them to go blind or lose the ability to speak!
- Some Barytes are even missing limbs from not being able to recover their gems
- It is not uncommon to have a Baryte that has cracks on their bodies, but this doesn’t hold them back.
- They are VERY easy to shatter, which is why they are very protective of their gems
Corrupt Forms
- Barytes, when corrupted, tend to take on forms similar to large dogs like Great Danes and German Sheppards
Their colors
- Barytes can come in a vast variety of colors and sub species
- Common colors: White, Yellow, Gold, Blue, Brown, Pink, Gray, and Colorless
- Uncommon: Green, Red, Orange, Purple, Rainbow, Black
- Rare: Aura varieties, “Painted” varieties
Sub species: Anglesite, Anhydrite, Celestite, Celestobarite, Desert Rose, Hashemite, Hokutolite, Oakstone
