He’d been invited to some party by some Harvard grad students that that were friends of his -friendly acquaintances was more accurate, really- and initially he thought he wasn’t going to attend. But frankly, it had been a stress-filled week with lots of work and he could use the time to unwind. He quickly noticed the party was much bigger than he anticipated, but with a drink in hand, Jacob soon eased into it. It was even a pleasant surprise to run into Valerie, a grad student from Robotics Engineering he met in one of the lectures he’d given here in Boston about a year ago. Granted, the two of them were drinking a bit more than they probably should, but dancing with her was the most fun he’d had since that night at the arcade bar with June and her friends. Val wasn’t the only familiar face he saw at the party, though. It was almost like thinking about the arcade bar invoked Bas, who came into sight just a few meters away from where he was dancing with Valerie.
