if I had a nickel for each piece of media with themes of nostalgia and grief and a villain who's an artificial construct desperately trying to entertain humans out of an all-consuming fear of abandonment, I'd have at least four nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it probably speaks to some societal anxiety
