ok so at the end of Matsunaga’s route after he’s killed all your faves in the nastiest and most emotionally manipulative way possible he decides there’s nothing interesting left for him on earth and goes down to hell to meet up with Nobs for a real challenge
Of course before their duel to the death he naturally proposes a menacing cup of tea, whereupon Nobunaga has to confess that he doesn’t do his damn dishes
probably allowing Matsunaga to get in a point about the transience of earthly (or infernal?) pleasures but it’s been a few years since I played that route and honestly I don’t really remember if there was an actual point to this exchange
OK so in actual 2015 I told @letterblade that I would translate Rikyuu’s route from Senbasa Sumeragi for her and never let it be said that I didn’t, technically, fulfill a promise
This may the single weirdest thing I have ever translated but I think at this point the places where it doesn’t make sense are faithfully representing the lack of sense of the source
Wabisuke: Don’t come out! Sabisuke!
Sabisuke: I don’t think so, Wabisuke.
Level 1
Wabisuke: I’ve come this far...have I finally escaped?
Mitsunari: Have you finished your unsightly flight? Rikyuu…! Then at the last, repent! Accept your fate and kill yourself!
Wabisuke: Ahh! Mitsunari-sama! Your anger is...it’s coming! I...I…
Sabisuke: Hahaha! You’re always so fucking serious, Mitsunari! You made Wabisuke hide!
Mitsunari: So you show your face! The fiend that lurks within Rikyuu! Prepare yourself! I will cut your throat and bury you!
Sabisuke: Hah, I’ve got no time or interest in being cut open by a guy like you...so, bye, sharp head guy!
Mitsunari: Wait, Rikyuu! Rikyuu!
Level 2
Hideyoshi: I see. You let Rikyuu escape.
Mitsunari: My humblest apologies, Hideyoshi-sama! I beg you to allow me, once more, the chance to wash away my shame!
Hanbei: No, for the moment we’ll leave the pursuit of Rikyuu to those with more time on their hands. There’s another battlefield I’d like you to head for.
Mitsunari: Yes! Hanbei-sama, I vow to yield to your strategy!
Hanbei: But still...the other Rikyuu, huh. The being that lurks within him, but has a different soul. Hideyoshi...what happened that day, when you and Rikyuu had tea alone together…? You won’t tell me, will you…?
Hideyoshi: I’m sorry, Hanbei...I can tell you just one thing....that man is a catastrophe for this world!
Level 3
Sabisuke: They’re fucking obnoxious, these Toyotomi! Aren’t they tired of chasing me yet?
Wabisuke: Isn’t that your own fault, Sabisuke? Because you went and raised your hand to Hideyoshi-sama!
Sabisuke: Are you serious? He was going to make us kill ourselves, if I hadn’t! So what? Would you rather have died? Well, I don’t want to go with you.
Wabisuke: I don’t want to either! ...but there’s no denying that it’s my fault. Why was I born in this body? I don’t want to see people’s hearts, I don’t want to know…
Sabisuke: Hahaha! I get that! Everyone’s so filthy. Well, worry about it all you want...I’ll do as I like for myself.
Wabisuke: ………………
Level 4
Ieyasu: You’re Rikyuu! It’s good to see you...it is Rikyuu, isn’t it?
Wabisuke: You...Ieyasu-sama? Why are you here?
Ieyasu: Haha, because I heard that there was a famous tea master here! I wondered...I’m glad it’s really you, Rikyuu! I heard that Lord Hideyoshi was searching for you,so I was worried...although I myself have become an enemy of the Toyotomi as well.
Wabisuke: Yes...I had heard that that was the case, but...uh,,,what on earth happened?
Ieyasu: ...well, a lot of things came together, I guess...at any rate, very soon I mean to settle things with the Toyotomi...with Lord Hideyoshi. Then you won’t need to run anymore. When all this is over, will you come teach me tea again?
Wabisuke: Ieyasu-sama....
Sabisuke: ………………….
Start of drama route
Level 5
Wabisuke: Please listen to me, Sabisuke. I want...to speak to Hideyoshi-sama again.
Sabisuke: Wha? What a turn of events.
Wabisuke: When I spoke to Ieyasu, I felt him come flowing in...his determination, his regret...and his pain. I don’t want to see him in such pain. And...if I just keep running away, nothing will change! So...I will go to see Hideyoshi-sama. And I’ll apologize, until he can grant forgiveness for my crime.
Sabisuke: Ha! How admirable of you. Let me just tell you...if you do that, I’ll do as I like as well. If we can take care of Hideyoshi and get rid of our pursuers, it’ll be one hell of a party!
Wabisuke: Yes, do as you like. I won’t lose...not to you, or to myself!
Manpain level
Wabisuke: This is…? It couldn’t be....is this army…?
Sabisuke: Hmm, the flames and the wind are blooming! Perfect weather for tea, don’t you think...Wabisuke!
Matsunaga: Oh? To think a tea master would show up here. And even...I see, it truly has been so long since last we parted.
Wabisuke: Matsunaga...Hisahide-sama? What are you doing here? Why would you fight with the Toyotomi...?
Matsunaga: Welcome, welcome. Please, don’t pay any mind to me. You’re not here for me, am I right...but for him. Conqueror...at this tea ceremony, you are the host. There’s no need to worry...I’m sure these ones will do you no discourtesy.
Hideyoshi: Matsunaga...I do not need you to tell me. This man once served as tea master for the Toyotomi. Rikyuu...have you once more given over to the weakness of your heart, and come to try and strike me down?
Wabisuke: You misunderstand, Hideyoshi-sama! Please take your seat once more at the tea ceremony...listen to what I have to say!
Hanbei: Won’t you tell me, Rikyuu-kun? That day, what happened between you and Hideyoshi?
Wabisuke: Hanbei-sama, you must know already...of my particular quality. Empathetic power, it might be called.
Hanbei: To read the hearts of others...no, rather to take them in naturally, it seems. Out of the blue, it does seem hard to believe.
Wabisuke: Hideyoshi-sama….knew about your illness. Before you fell, no matter what, he wanted to show you victory.
Hanbei: ….! Hideyoshi did?
Wabisuke: I told him he ought not to hasten the army’s advance based on his personal feelings...because I said that, I…
Hanbei: You were ordered to commit seppuku, is what you’re saying.
Wabisuke: You’re...so terribly faded...I can’t feel your heart.
Fuuma:……..
Matsunaga: Hmmm….this one might be even more suited for that duty. Don’t you agree...Fuuma?
Fuuma: …………
Wabisuke: That duty? What...are you...?
Matsunaga: So, the rarest of waste-water bowls in the world...is a vessel which exists clad in two colors. This is a jewel even you cannot match, Hiragumo.
Hanbei: [dies] Rikyuu-kun, you’re a man of great value, to be able to see through even Hideyoshi. Talk to him, and come back to the Toyotomi.
Sabisuke: Ha, I’m not going anywhere! Not with you people!
Wabisuke: Forgive me…! I’ll come back and make sure your wounds are treated.
Matsunaga: Hahahaha...what a fine show of hypocrisy. What’s done is done; you may as well leave it alone.
Hideyoshi: Rikyuu...it seems you’ve been discussing with Hanbei.
Wabisuke: I apologize. But...I thought that I needed to tell him. Hideyoshi-sama...it is no shame to live for the sake of a friend! Indeed, it can be greater than any cause--
Hideyoshi: Do not mistake me, Rikyuu. The reason I ordered your suicide was not because you had seen into my heart. You expose men’s weaknesses to the light of day...and foster the weakness of this world. You are a calamity!
Wabisuke: No…! I...for all of our sakes, I only…!
Sabisuke: My turn, Wabisuke! Hey, Hideyoshi! Thanks for your opinion! ...Okay, time to die.
Matsunaga: This is truly one for the mikado...gentlemen, I have high hopes for you.
[Hideyoshi PUNCH]
Wabisuke: Hideyoshi-sama!
Hideyoshi: You...will pay!
Sabisuke: No thanks!
Sabisuke: Should I tell you? What filthy stuff this guy’s really thinking?
Wabisuke: Don’t confuse me with such unfounded talk!
Matsunaga: I have waited for you, lonely one. And after all, you must be so.
Sabisuke: I don’t care what you’re into! Stand aside...the only one I have business with is Hideyoshi!
Matsunaga: At first glance you appear heartless, but it would seem that in truth you burn for [another’s sake/the sake of your other]...well, well, how admirable.
Sabisuke: You’re wrong, nowhere even close! Just hurry up and burn! It’s none of your business!
Matsunaga: Rather than a power once granted, it is a treasure that you have ceaselessly cultivated...But it’s too bad, Conqueror...it seems this one was less than simply a tea master.
Sabisuke: Heh…! You’ve got some weird tastes.
You sure talk big, Hideyoshi...but he was trying to apologize to you!
Hideyoshi: The past will not return! There is no future in which I will walk beside you two, who do harm to this nation!
Sabisuke: You’re just having a tantrum! Because he exposed what was really going on with you! So which one of us is weak? Huh??
Hideyoshi: So both the surface and its reverse drag others’ weaknesses into the light...As I thought, Rikyuu, you are none other than a calamity! I will destroy the seed of chaos! That alone will be this land’s salvation!
Sabisuke: Don’t get us involved in your stinking philosophy! Not me, and not Wabisuke!
Hideyoshi: [dies] Rikyuu, do not awaken...the weakness that sleeps...at the root of man.
Wabisuke: H...Hideyoshi-sama? I...I…!!
[cutscene]
Sabisuke: Damn….you...
Matsunaga: So the Conqueror, and his part in these wars, are now the past...How splendid. This may show that you are a calamity, unnecessary in this world...but I think otherwise.
Sabisuke: What...
Matsunaga: The power that you hold, in your refinement...this "empathy"...is truly a rare quality. The ability to feel others' hearts is, in other words, something very close to knowing all the feeling in the world.
[lights a fire and stabs him]
Matsunaga: It will be amusing to light a fire on this stove, and mix the ingredients together. Sen no Sabisuke, Sen no Wabisuke, I will heal your wounds, and give you shelter. From now on, I am your master.
Level 6
Matsunaga: Well now, I hope your wounds are healing well.
Sabisuke: Shut up! You know it hurts like a bitch.
Matsunaga: I do apologize...I'm not one to judge. By the way, your other self...the refined one still has not awoken?
Sabisuke: Yeah...I guess the thing with Hideyoshi was just too much for him. He says...he doesn't want to see anything anymore.
Matsunaga: That is troubling...for my purposes, his condition is indispensable. As is your power, of course, pure one.
Sabisuke: Heh! Then...what do you want us to do, oh wise master?
Matsunaga: Well...let us discuss that as we travel. But first of all, that we might bring on your awakening...let us go bring down a god, my apprentices.
Kenshin level
Matsunaga: Greetings, God of War...you who are closest to the gods. I mean to use your life for the sake of this man...you won't mind, I'm sure.
Kenshin: I had a feeling that you would soon bare your fangs. But you, innocent one...do you accept this?
Sabisuke: Hah! Sorry, but I'm not the one choosing. And it's not like I'm innocent.
Sabisuke: .....................
Sabisuke: Hey, is this really okay? Weren't the both of you followers of Ashikaga together?
Matsunaga: Ah, you need not worry yourself about that. In any case, before long I shall have you cross swords with the mikado as well.
Sabisuke: "Cross swords"...? An assassination? I'm not good at that, just telling you.
Matsunaga: No matter. It is not the result that I seek. What I wish to see...are those rarest of powers in collision, for its own sake.Sabisuke: ......................
Matsunaga: Inside the mikado lie never before seen feelings, or their fragments. If those were all dragged forth into the light...would it not be a matter of great interest?
Sabisuke: And so you want to use Wabisuke for that? No question...he'll break.
Matsunaga: Of course, this is why your assistance is indispensable. I would have you become one with him, and support him...in heart, and in body.
Sabisuke: Wait, are you telling me to die then? Don't mess with me, I'm not going to just disappear!
Sabisuke: Damn...! You can hear me, right, Wabisuke? It's fine, just stay asleep...stay asleep forever.
Matsunaga: For his own sake? ....truly, you are a kind man.
Sabisuke: Shut up! Don't choose the way I am for me...for us!
Matsunaga: On the mark, I suppose.....hahahahahaha
[Kasuga]
Sabisuke: Damn...I'm really pissed off! If you get in my way I'll kill you! Woman or not!
Kasuga: That's my line! If you come for Kenshin-sama, I don't care if you're a tea master, I'll take you down
!Wabisuke: No...Sabisuke...don't do something so heartless!
Sabisuke: Wabisuke! You fool, don't start waking up at a time like this!
Kasuga: What...is up with them...!? Are there...two of them?
Matsunaga: Ah yes, allow me to introduce my disciples, "the Truth of Insufficiency." Now, offer up to them your passion.
Wabisuke: Please, run away! I don't want to kill anyone anymore...no more!
Kasuga: What a repulsive, pitiful man! I feel for you, but I cannot pull back until you are defeated! I have someone I need to protect! And you!? If you have no such person, then that alone will decide this battle!
Wabisuke: Someone...to protect? That's right....there is no one like that for me...not anymore...!
[Kasuga dies]
Wabisuke: I...I killed...another person... No more...! Help me, Sabisuke....!
Sabisuke: W-wabisuke...!? No, don't come close to me!
Kenshin: You should realize that dragging each other down will bring about mutual defeat.Matsunaga: Men are quick to deny a truth they cannot accept.
[Kenshin bossfight]
Wabisuke: I cannot go back now! I have done harm to the person you care for!
Kenshin: His spirit...is all ajumble. How inhuman...!
Matsunaga: It cannot be helped...even I cannot choose the means at my disposal. My apprentice, this man may as well be a saint...one of the noblest of us all. And yet it seems that even such a man has no forgiveness for you...
Kenshin: ............
Matsunaga: You, who would destroy even the god which symbolizes that holiness...you are unmistakably a calamity for this nation.
Wabisuke: I am....a calamity? We are...that, that's....!
Matsunaga: What will you do? Will you disappear?
Wabisuke: If...if I will always be a calamity...then at least I want to be like you -- Sabisuke...
Sabisuke: Stop...don't drink from that cup...! Don't do this! Uuh, ahhhhh!
Matsunaga: Yes, keep mixing together...for the sake of my goal...
Kenshin: If I...were truly a god, I would have given to you another vessel. One person cannot be separated into two. The only salvation granted such a one...is to become nothing.
Matsunaga: If it is god who grants two vessels, and man who turns them to naught...then I will be the potter, and give rise to something different entirely.
[Kenshin dies]
Wabisuke: Sabisuke...where did you go, Sabisuke...? Ah...I...
[cutscene]
Matsunaga: How are you feeling?
Rikyuu: Ha, hahahaha. I feel good. Almost as though...I have been reborn...
Matsunaga: I am, of course, delighted to hear it. The special quality of he who is refined and the spirit and martial prowess of he who is pure...you, in combining the two, are truly worthy to stand before the mikado.
[points his sword at Rikyuu's throat because why not]
Matsunaga: Then, will you face him? You, who even as you bury your emptiness within, cannot resist taking a part of others into yourself..."the beauty of insufficiency."
[last level]
Matsunaga: I apologize for making you wait, my lord shogun. The day I have promised has finally come.
Ashikaga: Ohhh! Truly I have been impatient, my friend! And - this young man is?
Rikyuu: I am called Sen no Rikyuu. I am pleased to make your acquaintance. On the orders of my master, Hisahide, I shall now proceed to bring forth all...of your insides!
Ashikaga: Oh? All of me...you say? Hahaha, you are bold, my friend! But that is good!
Matsunaga: In the mirror that this man provides, all of you will be dragged forth...that all things may be illuminated in that fierce current. Reality, fate...and the fragments that lie slumbering within myself.
[Ashikaga bossfight]
Matsunaga: Now, go forth...you mingled insufficiencies known as Sen no Rikyuu.Rikyuu: Yes...observe, my master.Ashikaga: ........................
[cutscene]
Rikyuu: I am a calamity...a calamity which sends those I ought to esteem, gods, innocent men, friends, all to their deaths!
Ashikaga: I see! And the haze of that heat is nonetheless pleasant!
[mutual gross laughter]
Both of them: Then from now on, I am the lord of this land? My friend, whom I call: wait, and seek passion! By the name of Ashikaga I shall be your guide! ...I rejoice you have been born into this world! Even if you leave loneliness in your wake!
[more gross laughing]
Matsunaga: This is the soul. The treasure which may be the root of man. A song loved by one child, their name unknown...is that it?
[back to fight]
Ashikaga: To walk around town as one desires, to learn, at times to play! To know that this can never be attained, is certainly somewhat vexing...!
Rikyuu: "--but that too is because I am descended from the line of Ashikaga," is it? Oh, you are noble! So much it makes me sick!
Ashikaga: Why? Why are my people so indifferent?
Rikyuu: "--although I long so much for passion?" What? It's you, isn't it! It's you who are cold! My lord, you are a lonely man! Just like him...like me! But at the same time ready to boil over...so kind, and so cold!
Ashikaga: Truly, you can sense so deeply within me...I thank you, my friend! But it is yet not enough...go further! Understand me yet more deeply!
Rikyuu: Ugh...ngh....the tides of this spirit...are too great...! Stop...! I can't...enter any further! I...we...are not you! I'm not him!
Matsunaga: So he broke...or perhaps I should say he held out well. So...I have seen what I need to see. It is of no matter if I cast him aside now, but...mikado, would you consider granting me one miracle? Compassion...does not concern me, but rather, there's something I wish to test.
Ashikaga: Mm, ask what you will...! In any case, I feel I owe you a special gratitude!
Matsunaga: ......................
Rikyuu: Sabisuke....where are you? Sabisuke...the lord shogun is cruel...forcing his spirit upon me....tormenting me....hahaha, hahahaha....
Ashikaga: My friend of chaos, who holds two spirits in one vessel with mingled breath! Let the lathe of fate turn!
Rikyuu: Yes, I turn...revolving like a single sip of tea! I...we....
[cutscene]
Rikyuu: I am...I am! Sabisuke? ...Sabisuke!
Matsunaga: Well? As an experiment...shall we try to separate the one into two? Think of it as a toast to a great treasure, and do not hesitate to accept.
[Ashikaga gives him The Look]
Matsunaga: Indeed. As for you...
[clearly something esoteric happens]
Some one of these echoey fuckers: I grant you a parting.
Wabisuke: Sabi...suke...
Sabisuke: Wabisuke...
[and this wild ride ends with a selfcest fade-to-black]

OK HERE IT IS, THE FIC NONE OF YOU WERE WAITING FOR BUT ALL OF US DESERVE, aka Venat possesses Vayne during sex by way of introduction
To Solidor I speak in his own tongue. Her voice fading, or rather blurring round the edges, just as near but passing through him like so much mist. What mind and eyes reject the body hears. To lead, he might be led.
"Just so - and gladly," he replies, and it's no less jarring for being no surprise when Vayne chooses that moment to thrust into him, sweeping all else forthe moment aside just with the force of him. Cid makes to reach up towards him, pull him ever further down, and Vayne snatches his hand from the air, slams it back down with his full weight upon him.
"Enough of this," he says, all precision as though he weren't bearing down on Cid with, it would seem, the full frustrated might of humanity.
The venerable, the mangy dog which nips at my heels, the Toyotomi litfic
You must make sure to tell Hideyoshi before he departs-- Lord Hanbei’s fingers sharp as bone on his arm, and Mitsunari had already delivered the message, but he would do so again, to ensure that Lord Hanbei’s command is carried out.
He lifts his fingernails from where they’re pressed into the paper, puts it aside and takes the next one. He need only find what will be of use in the days to come.
Fuck a skeleton, inextricably entwine yourself in his questionable business ethics, ?????, SAVE THE WORLD
“And you don’t need to help him along, either, no matter how many souls he—claims he’s giving you.” She steps back, looks at him with eyes clear and - Caleb notices after a moment - unblinking. “But you know that already. Of course.”
Caleb feels a bit like he’s listening to a conversation he can only hear half of, as though it were badly transmitted through a nightmare of a windstorm. “It’s not about the souls,” he says, knowing how ridiculous that must sound to a Craftswoman. “Or at least, they’re not the only thing I can’t do this without.”
