I once mentioned Stephen being a baseball player very briefly but hadn’t actually drawn him in it in a while !!

Today's Flickr photo with the most hits illustrates something of a run on 'Americana'. Baseball is as much a part of that wholesome category as Diners (also prominent in the trend).
Here - Wrigley Field, an iconic park, and with direct links to chewing gum. It was the last Major League park to have lighting installed for night games - as recently as 1988. Sitting in the bleachers with the die-hards is a thrilling experience when the scores are close. Being sloshed (or rained on) by beer is something of an environmental hazard when the home team scores. There can also be wearing of hats and shirts inside out - which I presume is a superstitious ritual designed to curry favour with the baseball gods when things look dicey.
Attending a night time Cubs game, where they come from behind to beat the Cincinnati Reds by a close but thrilling margin, would be most welcome right now. W W W !!!
“Atwater Park Trespassers,” Montreal Gazette. June 2, 1919. Page 07. --- Twenty-four boys, ranging from 12 to 17 years of age, appeared Saturday morning before Acting Magistrate Arthur F. Bell in the Westmount Police Court on a charge of having trespassed on Atwater Park. The old baseball park, which has not been used for its regular purpose for over two years, has always been viewed with envy by the boys in the west end of the city and while the park is rented by the present lessee. S. E. Lichtenhein, to a soccer club for certain Saturdays in the year, it is unused during the week days. Several times the boys have been found playing on the park and they were chased out. The Westmount police were requested to arrest any boys seen playing in the park, and on Friday afternoon a constable saw twenty-four boys enjoying a baseball game. The constable explained the situation to the youngsters and they all marched up to the station and gave their names and addresses. They were allowed to go home on the promise that they would appear in court on Saturday morning. All pleaded guilty and were each fined $1.
