Baseball Series ~ Nathaniel
It took me a while to finish this but I finally did! I just want to say thank you to @vrael-mcl for helping me with the story idea for Nathaniel's part of this series ^.^ soo thank you thank you for your help and hopefully you like it!
Nathaniel is always working hard to be the best pitcher he can be for his team. He trains a few hours more than others and seek to other pitchers for advice and such. There are many reasons as to why he practices as hard as he does. The obvious is to help his team get to the championships. But the most obvious one, according to his teammates, is the beautiful news reporter Candy. See, Candy is the baseball teams’s reporter, she only interviews and writes papers for Nathaniel’s team. So, whenever their team wins she interviews a player who was a key component to the win. It’s kind of hard for a pitcher to be interviewed because they usually interview a batter who got in the most runs or hits. But if a pitcher pitches a complete day, a no hitter or a shut out, he then gets the honor of standing next to the beauty and get interviewed by her. That is really all Nathaniel wanted to do ever since he laid eyes on her his rookie year. So he practiced long and hard to gain as much endurance as he can. When Nathaniel completed his first game he couldn’t help but stare and stutter at Candy, but luckily she found it cute. After the interview he asked her out to dinner and she happily accepted.
Ever since that day they had been inseparable. Nathaniel always thinks back to that day and thinks how fortunate he was to be able to have this woman in his life for over three years now. But tonight he had only one motivation to be the best pitcher he can be. He needed to win the game and he needed to complete it no matter how tired he was. Top of the 9th inning 2 are on base and there is only 1 out remaining. Kentin, his rookie catcher, signals Nathaniel to use his curve ball. He nods in agreement and takes a deep breath before he winds up.
Ball! The umpire shouts as Kentin catches the pitch.
The pressure grows stronger. Kentin decides a fastball to be the next pitch. Nathaniel thinks about the batter the way he is standing. No, the batter is anticipating a fastball. He shakes his head. Slider? Nathaniel confirms then winds up.
Strike 1! The umpire shouts
This goes on until it became a full count. Kentin tells the umpire for a time out. Nathaniel is soon surrounded by his teammates.
“Yo, you got this man?” Kentin asks, “Cuz if you don’t we can get Dakota to close the game.”
“Of course he’s got this! He’s done it before and he can do it again.” Armin says as he pats Nathaniel on the shoulder in encouragement.
“Well if he’s got this then prove it and strike him out already.” Castiel grumbles.
“Nathaniel?” Kentin asks
Nathaniel looks over to the sidelines where he sees Candy setting up. She catches his stare and gives him a thumbs up. She knows he’s got this.
“I’m good guys. I can do it.” He tells his team, they all nod and put their trust in him.
They all go back to their positions and the batter squares up. Kentin signals a fastball and Nathaniel nods.
Strike 3! The umpire shouts
Nathaniel throws his glove up in joy as all of his teammates pile on top of him.
“Now was that so hard?” Castiel says as he smacks Nathaniel upside the head with his glove.
Armin then grabs him by the shoulders, “Not as hard as what he has to do now.”
Candy comes over to where the guys are with a wide bright smile, the team leaves and the camera starts to roll.
“So Nathaniel congratulations on completing your fifth game of the season and with a shut out no less! How are you feeling?”
“Ecstatic Candy.” They laugh
“What was going through your mind during the final out?”
“I was really just thinking the sooner I get this out the sooner I get to see you.”
Candy blushes and the entire stadium awes. Nathaniel leans over to Candy as his heart beats a mile a second.
“Now Candy...”
“Yes?” she says leaning into him with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Oh how he loves that about her. That fire, that passion, that instinct to challenge. It keeps him on his toes.
“You’ve asked me a few questions and now I’d like to ask you one if you don’t mind.”
This catches her off guard, he smiles. It’s nice to finally get the upper hand with her. He takes her hand and goes down on one knee. She gasps and her eyes water.
“Candy. When I first saw you I was a rookie taking on the big leagues for the first time and I thought you were the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. I wanted nothing more than to talk to you, but I couldn’t until I’ve made an impact with the team. Candy you pushed me to be the very best before we ever spoke a word to each other. Then I completed the first game of my career and I finally got that interview with you. Your smile made me forget why I was even there. I loved you before I even realized it myself. And for these past three years you’ve pushed me more and more to be the best and my love for you grew. So here I am to ask you a very important question,” he pulls out a rose gold ring with a single diamond shining radiantly, “Will you marry me?”
Candy falls down on her knees as she places both hands on his face.
“Yes.” She whispers as she leans in to kiss him.
The whole stadium roars and cheers in happiness for the two as Nathaniel slides the ring on her finger. During that time, they never noticed that Nathaniel’s team was now surrounding them with a bin full of Gatorade. Before they could even register what was going to happen the newly engaged couple gets doused in yellow Gatorade and with that, both Nathaniel and his fiance Candy get up from the ground and chase after his teammates with big broad smiles plastered on their faces.

Baseball Series~ Kentin
Draft day officially Kentin’s most nerve wrecking day of his life. He has family and friends at his house right now gathering around him and the television. Waiting for him to get a call from a major league team to tell him that they chose him to join their team. As a catcher, he is quite lucky at the moment, because a certain team just lost a catcher, to retirement. But even though they need a catcher they still have many options to choose from. So, he stares at his cell phone, while gripping to his house phone. Some people have tried to calm him down with words of appraisal and food, but his nerves were not going anywhere. He wanted to play professional ball ever since he joined his junior year of high school. Military school encouraged and inspired him to be more athletic and join sports. So when he found out that he had some sort of talent in baseball Kentin’s confidence flew and his love of the game grew as well. Another great motivator for him was his childhood friend and crush Candy.
She was the first person he told when he decided to join the baseball team and she was happy and supportive with his decision. She has been to almost every single one of his games including college and he would even consider her his lucky charm. So where was his lucky charm right now? Out of town, it was bad timing to have a family reunion at the same day as his draft day. It did bum him out not to have her with him but there was nothing he could do about it now except focus on the task at hand.
“The decision is in...”
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Kentin’s heart stops as his cell phone rings loudly in his hand.
“Hello?” Kentin says
“Yes, is this Kentin?”
“Yes,” he whispers, he can’t hear his own voice due to how loud his heart is beating.
“Welcome to the team Kentin. We are excited to be working with you.”
“Yes. Yes, thank you. Thank you very much. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
The man on the other side of the phone chuckles, “Yes well we believe you are the perfect asset to the team so we should be thanking you. See you in a few days.”
“Yeah! See you!” He hangs up the phone and he hears his name on the television.
Everyone rushes over to him congratulating him, hugging him. His mother crying, while his father pats him on the back telling him how proud he is of him. This was it. he is officially a baseball player going to spring training. That’s his new test, his new goal. He needs to prove to the team, the manager and the coaches he has what it takes to be in the major leagues, He instantly brings his phone back up to call Candy. She may not be here with him but they could still sort of celebrate with each other. The phone rings and rings until it went to voicemail. His chest fills with disappointment.
“Sorry. I think it’s better if we should celebrate in person.” he hears her angelic voice behind him.
He turns around to see Candy all decked out in his team’s merchandise with a huge smile on her face. She turns around and show hims that the jersey that she was wearing had his last name on it.
“Let it be known that I’m officially your number 1 fan from the very beginning.” She said proudly turning herself back around.
Kentin without a thought wraps his arms around Candy and lifts her up. This was all he needed to make this day perfect. Both he and Candy laugh in joy as everyone around them watched.
“Go out on a date with me!” kentin says holding Candy tenderly.
When he sees her eyes widen in shock his face grew hot.
“Uh... I mean... if...you want t-
Candy cuts him off with a big kiss.
“What took you so long?” She whispers happily as their foreheads touch.
Baseball series~Lysander
It was a perfect day to play ball. The spring air is cool to the touch as the sky held many clouds. If only it were a game of the actual season and not of spring training. The ball cracks loudly off the bat and Lysander gets into position. He sees the ball soar through the sky and notices that it is coming to his direction and a bit further back. He starts to run back with his eyes still glued to the ball and throws his arm in the air. The ball lands in his glove and the final out was made. Unfortunately, as Lysander caught the ball his back slammed on the padded wall behind him. Castiel, the first baseman, notices this and runs over to him.
“You okay?” he asks slight alarmed
Lysander gives him a reassuring smile, but winces.
“Come on, let’s get you to the Athletic Trainer,” he said causing Lysander’s cheeks to glow red.
The head athletic trainer is a beautiful woman named Candy, who had had the eyes of many players, including the hurt center fielder himself. Lysander is the kind of guy who more often than not has his head stuck in the clouds and because of that, he tends to get hurt a lot of the time. So he has become her most frequent patient. He believes that his injuries are some sort of blessing in disguise, because he got to see her often and they got to know each other very well. Castiel has been pushing Lysander to ask her out, but whenever he tried, he would clam up. The two baseball players enter into the athletic training facilty and the first thing they see is the beautiful trainer with her hair up in a ponytail messaging one of their teammate’s calf.
“Ok, I suggest you continue to message that calf for at least 15 minutes. If you still feel any tightness, come back to me tomorrow instead of practice. I’ll make sure to tell your coach,” she said gently as she sets his leg down.
The players whispers thanks and starts his message. The moment she turns around her eyes connect with Lysander’s. She smiles brightly.
“Lysander, I was starting to miss you. When was the last time I saw you? Two weeks ago?”
Two weeks ago, he needed his fingers tapped up due to blistering. He remembers how delicately she tapped his fingers and held his hands.
“I’ll let you two love birds catch up then, see ya doc,” Castiel said heading towards the doors.
“Before you go Castiel, drink this bottle of water entirely,” Candy tosses his a bottle, “I refuse to let you get dehydrated again. You gave us all a scare.” Castiel rolls his eyes at her, but chugs the water down anyway. She turns back to Lysander.
“Now what seems to be the problem today Lysander?”
“I slammed my back a little too hard on the wall while catching a fly ball.” He said as he sits on one of the benches, she chuckles lightly, “If its’s your back that’s hurting shouldn’t you lay on your stomach?”
“Right...” He lays down on his stomach and feels her lift his shirt.
“It’s a bit red, but doesn’t look to bad. You just need to ice it.” She places a bag of ice on top and Lysander hisses.
A comfortable silence drapes over the two and Lysander thought that it would be the right time to ask her out, but what should he say? Would she want to go to dinner? Is she even hungry?
“Do you have any plans for tonight?” She speaks first, he looks over to her.
“No, I do not.”
She smiles as she takes the ice bag off of his back.
“Would you like to go out to dinner? I mean if your back is up for it.”
Lysander gets up from the bench and stares at her sweetly, “And here I was going to ask you out.”
“So is that a yes?”
Lysander pushes a strand of hair behind her ear, “It would be my pleasure Candy.”
She smiles happily at him causing his chest to flutter. Lysander was very happy at this moment. he finally had a chance and it looks like she want to take it as well.
