Baseballing

I’m on this thing about cold showers (it gets pretty easy to tolerate), ignoring news (my kids says New Orleans is flooding), listening to lyrics (new as of today), and just maintaining a good physical and emotional state (I can house some blueberries). We all go through phases.

Ignoring news doesn’t include stuff that brings me some satisfaction. I’m nerdy enough and patient enough to enjoy baseball in appropriate doses. Nothing is good for you in excess, say they. I think baseball is cool (and I was born in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles baseball team is/are having a good season) and the local teams here are fun too.

So, baseball: The linked article [clicky] is all about this big kid whapping dingers in little league. It’s all the obvious stuff, hey-look-at-this-big-kid-whap-ding-dongs-doesn’t-he-look-older-blah-blah. The usual. Cool, whatever.

But let’s check out two things in the video middlespace:

1) The pitcher’s reaction to the hit. He flinched as if a gunshot went off instead of a bat striking his pitch, something he’s probably heard before. I might have had that very reaction given the sound of that dinger.

2) Third base baseball players are generally pretty cool. I think the third base kid here gives the big kid a little dap as the big kid rounded third. Hat’s off for sure. That’s a classy move third base baseball kid even though that big ass kid just doinked a salami.

Baseball is fun and good.

i went to a baseball game today and we lost really annoyingly and i also spilled dr pepper all over myself but it was still fun because i have a nice evening at the ballpark
